  • Sunday Thots: It’s Not By Power

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

One of the most important things I’ve learned in life is that it is wiser to build our dependence on God than building it on people, because people can disappoint us at any moment. Not only that, we can disappoint ourselves! When we find ourselves in a rut or facing difficult situations, we sometimes try to use our own ‘power’ to find solutions, but only end up failing.

We should rather choose to leave God because He is ever present and there for those who need and seek Him with a sincere Heart.

Never give up. Keep your thoughts and your mind always on the goal. One of the secrets of success is to refuse to let temporary setbacks defeat you.

We must live our life Not by Might nor by Power but by His Spirit.

    Have a blessed Sunday!

  • Finding Freedom Through Forgiveness

He that cannot forgive others breaks the bridge over
which he himself must pass if he would ever reach
heaven; for everyone has need to be forgiven.
    – George Herbert

Nearly everyone has been hurt by the actions or words of another. These feelings of hurt can burrow deep into one’s heart, causing lasting resentment and anger. But if you don’t practice forgiveness, you might be the one who pays most dearly.

It’s amazing how much power the word ‘Forgiveness’ holds. It has the power to release freedom and happiness. It has the power to allow us to move forward without ever having to focus on the past.

Forgiveness is a great purifier. It matters not how long you have hated or how deep the hurt runs. A room can be dark for ten seconds or ten years; the moment that light floods the room, the darkness disappears as though it had never been.

Are you very bitter and depressed towards a certain person who hurt you in the past? I urge you today to forgive and let go. If you do not forgive, you are bound to the person who injured you as surely as if you were handcuffed together.

We forgive by faith, out of obedience. Since forgiveness goes against our nature, we must forgive by faith, whether we feel like it or not. We must trust God to do the work in us that needs to be done so that the forgiveness will be complete.

I hope that we find that faith to forgive anyone who might have hurt us, and therefore find freedom and peace in our lives.

    Have a beautiful Sunday!

  • These Three Things…

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. – 1 Corinthians 13:13

This is one favourite Bible verse among a lot of Christians, containing three important things we need to live by.

Faith, by which we apprehend spiritual blessings, and walk with God. Hope, by which we view and expect eternal blessedness, and pass through things temporal so as not to lose those which are eternal. Love, by which we show forth the virtues of the grace which we receive by faith in living a life of obedience to God, and of good will and usefulness to man.

The greatest of these remains love. Love to our fellow man, love to our family, even love to those who least expect it. Sadly, love is also misunderstood in our world. It has been distorted, redefined, and perverted so that all manner of vices are described as love.

What is your definition of love?

  • Sunday Thots: Be Peaceful

Many people feel so pressured by the expectations of others that it causes them to be frustrated, miserable and confused about what they should do. But there is a way to live a simple, joy-filled, peaceful life, and the key is learning how to be led by the Holy Spirit, not the traditions or expectations of man.Joyce Meyer

SL Fabz, as we step into another new month, I feel the need to remind us to live peacefully with one another. In the midst of chaos, we can stand out by making our homes, our communities and eventually our nation a peaceful one. It is especially important we remain peaceful as we draw closer to the General Elections.

Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul. Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is also a state of mind. Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people.

Watch your manner of speech if you wish to develop a peaceful state of mind. Start each day by affirming peaceful, contented and happy attitudes and your days will tend to be pleasant and successful.

Let us remember we are all part of one big family. We are united in common values, and that includes belief in equality under the law and basic respect for public order.

If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.

    Have a peaceful month!

  • Sunday Thots: Grace That Endures

If there is anything we can’t deny to have received from God, it is His Grace.

Grace means getting something that you do not deserve; unmerited favor. It is an eternal gift we have received and on this beautiful Sunday, I’d just like to remind us of some scriptures that speak of the importance and benefits of Grace.

    1. Romans 5:1-2
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

    2. 1 Peter 5:10
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

    3. Acts 6:8
And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.

    4. 1 Peter 5:10
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you

    5. Ephesians 2:4-9
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

    Stay blessed!

  • Sunday Thots: Scriptures That Signify The Importance of Your Faith

You might be passing through a difficult situation, you might have stopped believing that things will change, you might just need some encouraging words to boost your confidence…

I hope these Bible verses inspire you and help renew your faith in God.

    1. Ephesians 2:8

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”

    2. James 2:17

“So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

    3. First Thessalonians 1:2-3

“We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

    4. Hebrews 11:6

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

    5. Romans 10:17

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

    6. Hebrews 11:2

“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible”

    7. Matthew 14:30-31

“But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
