  • Rest In Peace…. Dr Babatunde Osotimehin

Today, I remember a great man, a renowned global public health leader and a beloved father who passed on recently. Dr Babatunde Osotimehin, who until his death a few days ago was the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is someone whose contributions to reducing maternal mortality and promoting universal access to reproductive health always served as an inspiration to me. It’s sad that he is gone and I commiserate with his family and loved ones. He will always be remembered for his passionate and diligent service.

  • So Sad…. Rest In Peace Peter Bunor

I woke up this morning to the sad news that my friend, the veteran actor Peter Bunor has passed on.

His son, Peter Bunor Jnr made the announcement on Facebook saying:

‘In the early hours of today, my father, friend, teacher, confidant passed on.’

This breaks my heart so much. I remember fondly the early days of my career and how much of a strong support he was. It was always a delight to work with him. I learnt so much from him and always felt at ease in his presence. Peter was never one to make anyone feel intimidated or uneasy; he was friendly, supportive and extremely talented.

    Nollywood has lost a veteran.

My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. May God grant you the fortitude to bear this huge loss.

May his soul rest in peace.

  • My Heart Goes Out to Victims of the Nepal Earthquake

I was watching CNN a few hours ago and cringed every time I heard the death toll of victims of the Nepal Earthquake.

  • Rest In Peace Oronto Douglas

I feel the need to express again my heartfelt condolences to the family of Oronto Douglas on the sad demise of a great man.

According to media reports, he was diagnosed with cancer around 2008 and had been fighting the illness since then. Until his death, he was a special adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan and a renown environmental activist who died in Abuja early Thursday morning of cancer related ailment.

Today, I read the sad news that he was actually told by his doctors in the US recently that he could not survive further medication and that he had few days to live. Following this devastating message, he returned to Nigeria and was in high spirits till the moments leading to his death.

He would have been 49 on August 6 this year.

His contributions to the Nigerian Movie Industry would be forever remembered. Oronto Douglas was a Nollywood ally who help facilitate the relationship between the Presidency and Nollywood. He also made it possible for Nollywood to receive some much needed funding from the Federal Government.

    He would be dearly missed.

    Rest In Peace, Sir!

  • So Sad… Rest In Peace Myles Munroe, Family & Others

I woke up this morning to the tragic news that Dr Myles Munroe, his wife Ruth Monroe, his daughter Charisa and six others died in a plane crash.

According to Forbes, the plane reportedly struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, exploding on impact and crashing into the ground near a junkyard area at the Bahama International Airport.

It is such a sad ending for a man whose ministry has had a positive impact on thousands of people around the world. He was a renowned gospel leader, transformational leader, business coach and author of many motivational books.

    Myles and passengers

The couple and 7 others (pictured above moments before boarding the plane) were killed after the Lear 36 executive private jet they were traveling in struck a crane at the grand Bahamas ship yard, as it approached for landing, exploding on impact. The group was on their way to the Global Leadership Forum, which was organized by Dr. Munroe and was scheduled for this week in Freeport.

Tragedies like this make me so so sad, makes me ask so many questions that I can’t find answers to. Dr Myles was 60 years old. I don’t know the ages of other passengers on the plane but they were all younger than him. He is a man that had so much more inside of him to impact the world with. In fact, he was on his way to touch more lives when he met his death.

I’ve been personally blessed by some of his teachings and books. I’m definitely gonna miss him, and so will thousands others. I take consolation in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and did so much good while on earth. I pray for God’s comfort on his only surviving son. I can’t imagine how he must feel right now.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

The actor got caught in a cross fire between the police and armed robbers who just to raid a bank in Asaba along Summit Expres.

He was only 37 years old, brutally cut short in his prime.

His death brings to the fore the need to improve our security and regard for lives in Nigeria. We can’t continue to loose our loved ones like this.
