  • Single? Here are 5 things you can do on Valentine’s Day!

It’s that special day set aside to celebrate the greatest gift of all, LOVE.

Those who are in relationships already have their plans figured out by now, yes?

But what about YOU without that special someone to share this day with? What plans do you have?

Don’t let the day go to waste. You too can participate in the frenzy of Valentine’s Day by loving yourself.

Sounds like a cliché, but do it! Focus on YOU today.

Here are FIVE things you can do on Valentine’s Day for yourself:

BREAKFAST IN BED: Order a platter a day before, and have them deliver it to your door in the morning. Pamper yourself to breakfast in bed. You deserve it.

WATCH A COMEDY: Treat yourself to laughter. It’ll lift your spirit.

GO SHOPPING: Why not? Get something you really think you deserve. Spoil yourself. Love starts with you.

SPA ON A BUDGET: Relax. Get a massage. Ask the masseuse to line up your room with scented candles. Ask for soft music in the background, then breathe!

VOLUNTEER: Go out there and do some good for the less privileged. It is one of the best ways to spend the day, trust us!

REFLECTING: Here’s a bonus point – You can round up the day with dinner in a restaurant with live music. Eat, dance and be happy. Life is good.

Lastly, don’t forget to reflect on your life and find many things to be grateful for. You may not have a partner right now, but you have LOVE – God’s Love. And for this love, you are able to start afresh everyday. His love is sufficient.

    HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

  • FEB. 14: What do women want for Valentine’s Day?

What are your plans for the big Love Day? Are you expecting any grand event?

Five women share their expectations for Valentine’s Day:

“I would like a lovely dinner after work. I would also like to receive bank alert. Afterwards, I would like to be left alone to sleep in a hotel for the rest of the week.” – Arin Davies, banker.

“I want an engagement ring. That’s what I want. I’m 32 and I want to move to the next level of my life as a woman. I dated someone for three years and he broke my heart. I’m seeing this guy but it’s not a serious relationship. I can’t think of anything I want more than to find a man ready to settle down and get engaged.” – Blessing, stylist.

“I will like a trip to Seychelles or Maldives or Zanzibar. A nice Valentine get-away, sipping Champagne and having mind-blowing sex. Those are my wishes.” – Ndidi Ugwoke, copywriter.

“I would love to receive flowers and gift – a wristwatch and a perfume delivered to my office. The idea that my colleagues can see that I am loved would make me feel really special.” – Pelumi Oyerinde, customer care.

“I’m a new mother and I’ve been married for four years, I have never been treated like a princess. I would like a full day at a spa. I would like a full day of doing nothing. Let someone else stay up at night while I grab some sleep. That’s all I want. Oh! And some chocolates. I love chocolates!” – Tricia Udom, digital marketer.

PS: Readers, share your expectations for Valentine’s Day.

  • How Did You Spend Valentine’s Day?

    Hi lovelies,

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, a day celebrated around the world to show feelings of love, affection and friendship. Each year on February 14th, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.”

My day was beautiful and I spent it with my hubby as usual *wink* 💗 💗

How did you spend your Valentine’s Day? Did you give or receive any gifts? What does Valentine mean to you?

  • Is it OK to reject a Valentine’s Day gift?

    Hi SL Fabz,

I hope you all had a fab Valentine weekend!

Someone asked me the question above and the first thing that came to my mind was Omawumi’s song ‘If you ask me, na who I go ask?‘ Lol! But then I remembered my dear SL Fabz and decided to bring the question here.

Really, I’ve never been in that sort of situation where I had to reject a gift given to me on Valentine’s Day. But I know there are a number of situations that could result to that.

Maybe the gift was inappropriate or too intimate… imagine a guy you really don’t like giving you a sexy lingerie! Or you felt the gift would put you in a compromising situation…. like a married man or someone you know is in a relationship giving you an ‘I love you‘ gift.

In such situations, I think such gifts should be rejected. Or what do you think? Have you ever been in such a situation? Is it OK to reject a Valentine’s day gift? If you answer is YES, what kind of situation could warrant such a rejection?

    Let’s discuss!

I wish you days that are bright

A world of faith and hope
    And joy that’s everlasting

    I wish you constant peace
    And good days ahead
    You deserve this and more
    My dear sweet friend

    Happy Valentine’s Day 2015!

  • Valentine’s Day Ideas For Singles

    Hi SL Fabz,

I’m sure by now you must be tired of me going on and on about Valentine. Don’t mind me jor. I’m a hopeless romantic. Everywhere I turn, I see Valentine Day adverts, giveaways, gist and more and I can’t help but catch the bug.

In my previous posts about Valentine, I’ve been concentrating on giving tips to those who are married or dating. Forgive me my Single Ladies and Guys. The day is also very special for you to enjoy and today, I have a few ideas for my single SL Fabz.

    Here they are:

    1. Show Love To Your Family: Take your parents out for a nice dinner, or cook for your whole family. After all, even if you’re single, a family’s love is really special!

    2. Go To The Movies: Get together your other single friends for a night at the movies. Be sure to pick a non-romantic movie. Get giant buckets of popcorn and drinks to share while having a good time.

    3. Treat Yourself: Go to a spa, get a massage or check out the new restaurant you’ve always wanted to try. If you don’t want to go alone, invite some friends and you’re sure to have a good time. Get yourself that lovely shirt you’ve seen on display for weeks or purchase the new phone you want — treat yourself like gold. No matter what you do as you spend Valentine’s Day alone, do what you enjoy doing most and feel good about yourself.

    4. Volunteer Your Time/Money To The Less Privileged: Instead of moping around all day feeling lonely, think of all the people who are less worried about getting a date and more worried about getting a meal. Busy yourself with volunteer work and I guarantee you’ll end the day with a lot more love in your heart. Visit the elderly people, the homeless, the sick… After all, isn’t it important to love your fellow man?

    5. Fall In Love With Something New: Interested in going to the gym? Want to learn how to dance Salsa? Wish you could learn how to bake? Challenge yourself to do something you haven’t done before, or seldom get to do because of your schedule.

    6. Have A Party: Invite all your single friends (guys and girls) or those whose dates are unavailable, and have a party at your place. Get some food and music going and make the night memorable by taking it easy with your close friends. This is a great option if you don’t want to spend Valentine’s Day alone.

    7. Get Out Of Town: Plan a special trip to some place you’ve always wanted to visit. It could be something as dramatic as a foreign cruise or as simple as a day trip. Enjoy being able to just do something you and only you want to do.

The main message of Valentine’s Day is Love. So make sure to spread it with everyone important in your life and the people who surround you, regardless of your relationship status. And don’t worry, there’s someone out there for everyone. If you haven’t found them yet, it will just make it all the more special when you do.

    Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • 6 Cool Ways To Enjoy Valentine’s Day Without Spending Too Much

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and I’m sure you are gearing up for a fab day with that special someone. You’re probably wondering how you are gonna fit in your spending to your tight budget. I’ve got news for you! Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to cost a lot of money for the experience to be romantic. Here are 6 interesting ways to show love without bursting your wallet:

    1. Cook Dinner Together
Skip the expensive restaurants and make a homemade meal instead — but one more fancy than an ordinary night’s dinner. Spark some romance while preparing dinner together. Choose a dish that you both love and work side-by-side in the kitchen to prepare it. Play some music to add some more romance to the experience and then enjoy eating the meal together, after you have prepared it.

    2. DIY Gifts
Instead of buying a super expensive piece of jewelry or something equally as wallet-busting, give a unique and personal token of your love. You don’t need to spend a small fortune to show the object of your affections that you care about them so why not make your own personal gift. It can be a photo collage or short video you compiled of the two of you. Whatever you choose to design, no one can resist a gift made with love.

    3. Go Dancing
Its really not that expensive to find a good place around where they play your favourite music. Just go dancing! Put on your dancing shoes and get close with your significant other.

    4. Write It Out
You don’t have to be a super writer to write from your heart. It could be a Poem, a Letter or a short note. Search deep into your heart and write sweet words for your love. Let your loved one know just how much he or she means to you in writing.

    5. Re-enact Your First Date
Do you remember the place you had your first date? Or the place you first met? It is very likely your first date together wasn’t too expensive so why not recreate that special moment all over again. This will surely melt his/her heart and would give you time to recount the lovely memories of being together.

    6. Get Creative in the Bedroom
Hmm… this is for married couples only *wink*.
One of the best parts of Valentine’s Day is the facilitation of intimacy. This year, kick your bedroom antics up a notch and get creative by making it a night to remember.

SL Fabz, what do you think of this list? Would you be doing any of these on Valentine’s Day?

Do you have more tips to add?
