5 Reasons Why Every Lady Should Wear Heels

Heels are an important part of the fashionable woman’s wardrobe.

For different reasons, not every lady can wear heels. I know that. There was a point in my life I had to stop wearing heels for a while after an accident, so this is not to say everyone MUST wear heels. But we can’t deny that a great pair of heels does a lot to a woman’s confidence and gait in positive ways.

Here are 5 reasons why I think its absolutely important for a lady to wear a pair of heels, at least once in a while:

1. They Draw Attention To Your Feet
If you want to make a good first impression on anyone – man or woman – wear a pair of heels. A woman wearing heels definitely draws attention. Men love a woman in heels, and a great pair of heels can also draw compliments from other women. Stylish looking heels are an excellent way for a woman to add a focal point to an outfit.

2. They Boost Your Confidence
Walking in a pair of heels gives you a certain gait that is more confident than walking in flats. It adds some extra flair to your outfit and gives you a certain height that makes for a more assertive appearance. A good pair of heels makes a lady feel better about how she looks and this generally adds to her confidence.

3. They Accentuate Your Legs
A good pair of comfortable heels can make a lady’s legs look amazing. Not only do wearing high heels give the look of long and sexy legs, but they can also tone a woman’s leg muscles.

4. They Add Extra Height
I know what you’re thinking. I’m tall already and don’t need the height. Yeah, right! You’d be surprised that tall ladies can benefit from heels. Especially someone like me who has a very tall hubby *wink*.

There are some dresses that just don’t go well with flats. The heels are needed to boost one’s height for that complete and confident look, and believe me, this is the number one reason why women around the world wear high heels. Women may want to add height in a number of different situations. They may want to match their height to a taller date. If a petite woman want to feel taller and more confident, all she has to do is throw on a pair of heels.

5. They Make You Look Trimmer
High heels, just like outfits such as skinny pants, make one look thinner in part because they force a woman to stand taller. This gives the appearance of a trim figure which is really what most women want.

So ladies, would you be wearing a pair of heels today? What is the primary reason why you wear heels?

While heels are great, confidence shouldn’t be gotten from them. A Man isn’t more or less confident based on his shoes; yeah, if he looks the part he feels better but it that isn’t the source of the confidence, it can be an addition. There are a lot of confident women in flats; women who make such a huge impact than you can possibly think. That woman who breaks her bone to send her child to school for example. If I am diabetic and can’t wear heels, should I feel less confident or less beautiful or be less assertive in carrying out my duties? Not only do men have this pressure they put on women, women also put a lot of pressure on themselves and look differently at another who chooses not to do so. Are we going to teach our girls that wearing flats makes them less confident? I choose to wear what I want to wear when I want to because I choose to. Not because of a man or woman or because my confidence stems from them. Humans made heels, not the way around. Well if a man feels less bold because I wear flats, he essentially sees me as a trophy he can show off. I don’t have to sashay in heels for confidence; I already rock. Fashion is great, we feel good when we dress good (that definition is relative) but it shouldn’t be the source of our sassiness or our confidence or our beauty. And we wonder why the next generation is becoming shallow day by day?

I agree with you totally. Its a good fashion essential but we should also be able to do without it.

I love all kinds -kitten, platforms, flats, flipflop, stilettos…but You spoke (wrote) my mind. God bless you for pointing out women should not be defined by how high their heels are or how it makes them appear, and I really don’t want to be a trophy just cos I’m strutting my awesome stuff in heels. Show me off for ME- how I add value to you, my brains, achievements etc before looks and definitely before heels. Confidence IS and WILL ALWAYS BE a thing of the mind.

Taiwo, thank you so much for your comment. You hit the nail right on the head with that one. As I was reading the previous comments, I won’t lie, I was losing a little bit of hope in the sisterhood there. But then I read your comment, and thought ‘phew!! Hope restored’. Here’s me hoping your comment is the one drop of water that leads to the change in the ocean…so to speak. It’s International Women’s Day today (8th March). I have a Women’s day summit, and I will now be attending that with a little bit more of a spring in my step (no pun intended), because you’ve made my morning!! Here’s to free thinkers, and to defining your our beauty.

I doubt that ur confidence/classy appearance wud alter any bit…if u know classy ….u wud know that anyone could come out classy in whatever footwear boya flats or heels…excessive usage of heels has its side effects. “Be classy n healthy”…veggies won’t do this one oo…trust me 😉
