A Lady And Her Manicure

There is this perception by most people that women who keep well manicured nails (mostly artificial), don’t do any kind of domestic work.

A friend of mine brought this topic up again recently. According to her, her younger sister went to visit her future mother-in-law and when the elderly woman saw the young lady’s nails, she promptly told her in a not-too-kind manner that she wants her son to have a wife who won’t give her nails as an excuse for not cooking. The elderly woman said to her “Won’t you spend all my son’s money on fast food with nails like that?

The irony of this situation is that the elderly woman couldn’t be more far from the truth. The lady in question is a very good cook, infact, someone you would call a ‘foodie’. She is so good and passionate about cooking that she runs a food blog where she dishes lovely recipes to her readers regularly. She spends more time in the kitchen than the average woman. But her nails made her mother-in-law to be judge her differently.

So, I ask, do you look at a woman’s nails and immediately come to a conclusion on the kind of person she is? Should this be so?

Let’s discuss!

Artificial nails as it is called has nothing to with domestic chores. People judging ladies because of it is absurd although most ladies would refuse to do these chores when asked why they will attribute it to the nails. If you are not comfortable using the nails for chores pls don’t fix them. Groom and keep natural nails clean so as to avoid unpleasant comment from people. I rest my case.

If a woman’s nails are unkept, I think of her as untidy. A well kept nails: real or artificial, is a plus in my opinion. My natural nails are longer than some artificial nails, but that doesn’t hinder my domestic duties. I don’t see a lady with well manicured nails as un domesticated.

Well, not actually, it depends on what you’re comfortable with. I prefer to just coat my own nails. I don’t really like to wear artificial nails but i like it on other people.

No! Though I don’t wear artificial nails but I admire it when I see some1 with lovely ones and I would never judge any1 by there nails, because I know people who do there own laundry even with artificial nails.

I’m a lover of artificial nails, I fix them a lot…. I fix them myself. And it doesn’t hinder me from doing house chores. I think it’s unfair when people judge others wrongly.

    No, it should’nt be so.
Nails should not be a criteria for measuring one’s personality or ability but neatness.
I don’t fix but I see nothing wrong in those who do as long as they are comfortable in them.
Infact, I admire a well manicured nail wen I see one

Fixing nails whether long or short has nothing to do with the art of working home. Fix it accordingly so asto fit your standard of work. It should be done in such a way that u can use to wash and do all ur domestic chores correctly without any hindrances. If not so then pls, I advise u keep it neatly trimmed low to fit de society u find urself in.

Well, in this case i don’t fix, and i don’t think fixing nails can stop any responsible woman not to do domenstic chores unles you are lazy.
