  • Stephanie’s Poll: Who Should Make The First Call?

    Imagine this scenario:

A beautiful lady meets a handsome man somewhere. They have a great conversation and the chemistry in between them even at that first meeting is undeniable. They both have a good and comfortable time in each other’s company and feel their first meeting is the start of a wonderful union.

After spending about an hour together, they reluctantly part ways, but not before exchanging numbers. Now note, emphasis on ‘exchange’. Lady has guy’s number and guy has lady’s number.

One day, two days, four days, one week, two weeks pass after their meeting and… no phone call. Lady has been waiting patiently by her phone, with her heart in her mouth every time her phone rings, hoping its him. But he never calls….

If you were the lady, would you call him? In such a situation, who should make the first call?

  • What I Caught On TV: Chantelle Winnie

Beauty is not about looks, makeup or clothes. True beauty comes from being yourself.

I had once read the inspiring story of Chantelle Winnie, a beautiful 19 year-old model who has a skin pigment condition called – Vitiligo.

She has become the first model with the disease and her story is truly inspirational.

For most people with this condition, it is something they want to hide and won’t dare dream of flaunting it as a model. But Chantelle is different. Rather than being judged for her distinctive looks, Winnie’s now being celebrated for them.

She was diagnosed with Vitiligo at the age of four, and suffered bullying in school from her peers. They even gave her the nick names such as ‘Milky’ and ‘Zebra’ because of the white patches on her skin.

So I was very proud of her when this past weekend, I watched her picking up the Beauty Idol award at German magazine Gala’s Spa Awards 2015 in Baden Baden, looking gorgeous in a sequin and lace red dress.

Chantelle is a model, catwalk star and aspiring writer. She doesn’t let her skin condition define her success and has broken barriers to rise successfully in her profession. I am truly inspired.

    * Vitiligo is a skin disorder characterized by smooth, white patches on various parts of the body, caused by the loss of the natural pigment.

  • Groovy Friday: This Adorable Boy’s Performance Will Amaze You!

    Hi SL Fabz,

Is anyone here in for a good laugh today? I just watched this short video and it totally made my day.

Judges in this reality show were stunned when a three year-old boy walked on the stage with a speaker which he called ‘His Baby’.  His confidence and charm is so amazing, not forgetting his cute dance moves. He did some robot moves that got me laughing so hard till water filled my eyes. Oh boy!

He had the most adorable reply when asked why he loved to dance. You’d find this at (time 7:25). I had a big smile on my face throughout this video and I’m sure you will too. It’s so cute and sweet.

    Check on it:

Did you notice the way he kept waving until he left the stage? Adorable!
What was your most interesting part of the video?

  • Your Ex vs A Party

So, you’re getting ready to attend your friend’s birthday barbecue.

Just as you get into your car, your phone rings. It’s the brother of your ex. Your ex has just had an accident. The brother of the ex, starts begging you to come to the hospital.

The ex is an ex, because they treated you like dirt & left you (male or female, as it applies to you).

After you end the call, you turn on the ignition of your car. Where would you go – hospital or barbecue venue?

    And why?

Remember Chioma Nnani, the writer whose book excerpt I published a few days ago? I found this post on her FB wall and thought it would be interesting to share here.

If it were you, where would you go?

  • Caption This!

Welcome again to another wonderful week SL Fabz!

I was looking through my photo album and found this picture I took at home some time ago when I was just goofing around. How would you caption this?

  • 10 Bad Habits That Drain Your Energy

Sometimes, we feel physically or emotionally drained. This stops us from achieving our dreams and might be the cause of some habits we practice often. Such habits could be physical, mental, emotional…

Here are 10 things you need to stop doing if you want to boost your energy:

    1. Letting pain from the past devastate the present: Don’t give up on today because of the way things looked yesterday. Every day is a new day to try again.
    2. Skipping breakfast: Many people skip breakfast in an attempt to control their weight. However, doing so may undermine your entire day. After fasting all night, your body needs calories and nutrients to produce energy.
    3. Continuous complaining: Not only does complaining sap energy from you and everyone around you, it also doesn’t work.
    4. Lack of adequate sleep: I know some people believe that less sleep gives them more time in the day, but this is not actually true. Lack of sleep means you won’t function very well when sleep deprived.
    5. Skipping exercise: Regular exercise boosts strength and endurance, helps make your cardiovascular system run more efficiently, and delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. So next time you’re tempted to crash on the couch, at least go for a brisk walk—you won’t regret it.
    6. You don’t drink enough water: Dehydration causes a reduction in blood volume, which makes the blood thicker. This requires your heart to pump less efficiently, reducing the speed at which oxygen and nutrients reach your muscles and organs. This makes you very weak and tired.
    7. You’re not consuming enough iron: Boost your iron intake to reduce your risk of anemia and general body weakness. Foods rich in iron include beef, beans, eggs, dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, and peanut butter, and pair them with foods high in vitamin C (vitamin C improves iron absorption when eaten together).
    8. Sacrificing too much for others: Don’t sacrifice yourself too much, because if you do, there will be very little left that you can give to anyone, even those you love dearly.
    9. You have too much on your plate: One of most common reasons that people feel drained and exhausted is that they have too much to do and too little time. Many people take on more than they can handle. Learn to say no and create a little gap in your day. If you want more energy you need time for yourself too.
    10. Eating too much junk food: Processed foods are convenient if you live a busy life, but they’re actually working against you. Foods loaded with sugar and simple carbs like the ones you’ll find in a fast food center works to increase your blood sugar. Constant blood sugar spikes followed by sharp drops cause fatigue over the course of the day.

It’s the start of a brand new week, SL Fabz. Stay active by keeping away from bad habits that drain your energy.

    Have a great week.

  • Monday Matters: The Flying Eagles Won!

It’s always wonderful to start a new week with great news. The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have given Nigerians another reason to celebrate after the U-20 football team beat Senegal’s Young Lions 1-0 in the final match of the 2015 edition of African Youth Championship which took place in Dakar, Senegal yesterday.

Not only did they have good victory, they created a new record by becoming the first team to win the championship seven times.

This is so impressive. Stay winning boys!

SL Fabz, what are your goals for this week? What do you aspire to win?

  • I’m Loving….

I love the colour Ivory and fell in love with this small push-lock crossbody bag at first sight. The Valentino soft leather bag has a silvertone hardware and a Chain shoulder that can be worn doubled. The signature rockstuds trim tab on the flap top add a bit of shine to the bag and the push lock is also Logo-embossed. It looks really classy and chic.

What colour of shoe can be rocked with this bag for a formal look?

  • Talk To Steph: He Married Someone Else

I am 32 years old. I dated a guy for four years. He took care of me financially. I know he loves me and I love him with everything I’ve got but just last month February, he married his ex-girlfriend. He did all the preparations without my knowledge. It was two weeks to the wedding that I heard he was getting married which he did not deny. At that time, we were still dating.

It is two weeks now that he got married but he still comes to my house and still takes care of everything just like before. He still tells me he loves me but he did not know how the whole thing happened. He said that I should give him time so that he can leave the lady for me.

I love him so much I don’t have the courage to stop him from coming to my house. I feel like seeing him everyday so I’m planning to leave my state to another state to start a new life because I know it won’t be easy for him to quit that marriage. Please I need advice.

SL Fabz, please give some advice to this reader who sent this heartfelt email about a situation she is passing through.
