On Sunday 30th March 2014, I had a fabulous time at the Vlisco Women’s Month Award Night which took place at Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event was part of the celebrations to honour the outstanding achievements of West and Central African women by identifying and rewarding those who inspire others to realise their dreams.
As the face of this year’s International Women’s Day campaign, I was honoured to be part of such an event that celebrates women and their achievement.
Big congratulations to Adesuwa Onyenokwe, Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of TW Magazine who won the Vlisco Women’s Month Award for Nigeria. During the event, the winner of the Vlisco Fashion Fund was also presented with her award and cash prize. (more…)

Several days after the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, the world was greeted with the shocking news that the plane went down in the southern Indian Ocean and all lives aboard the plane are lost.
I am deeply saddened by this news. The news is very devastating especially for families, some of whom had held out hope their relatives somehow were still alive. Our worst fears have been confirmed and it’s a loss so hard to bear.
The Malaysia Airlines plane missing for more than two weeks crashed in the southern Indian Ocean and none of the 239 people aboard survived. (more…)

I know there are lots of fashionistas and aspiring designers in the house so I’d like to remind you of an interesting opportunity.
Remember I told you I am the face of the Vlisco Women’s Month campaign this year. Well, another aspect of the Women’s Month campaign is the Vlisco Fashion Fund, which helps aspiring fashion designers in West and Central Africa.
Novice designers are encouraged to pitch their business plan, which explains their fashion dream, to a Vlisco jury between 1-23 March 2014, with the chance of winning $2,500 funding and a fashion training in the Netherlands. (more…)
Last week, I had a very interesting and engaging session with teenagers from several Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
I was invited as a role model to speak to the students on the topic “What I Wish I Knew When I Was 16” and I must say, it was really cool recounting my teenage experiences and inspiring the students with the lessons I’ve learnt.
The event called WATFON ‘We Are The Future Of Our Nation’ was organised by Edumark Consult, an education services organization with the core objectives of inspiring patriotism, celebrating role models and promoting unity among young Nigerians. Speaking to those bright teenagers was a touching experience and I’m so glad I was a part of it.

I’ve followed the reports of the missing Malaysia Airlines Plane for the past two days and the news is truly sad and shocking.
It’s very depressing that even with the improved technology and communication we are blessed with in this age, it seems a plane can simply vanish from the sky. Countries with the best technology have employed their resources into searching for this missing plane for the past two days and have come up with nothing. Yesterday, I watched the news as boats and planes scoured the water, chasing a series of leads that proved false. While some say the plane might have crashed into the sea, others say it has been hijacked by terrorists. (more…)
