The story making rounds of a woman in Zimbwabwe who was disvirgined by a man who promised to marry her, but got her pregnant and left to be with another woman he shares a baby with is yet another story of heartbreak we are all so used to hearing.
But the crazy twist is…she is suing the man, who she claims is her fiancé, for $15,000!
Hmmm!
Do you think she has a case?
And going deeper into this type of scenario, do you believe it is time for people (men and women) to sue their partners for breaking their hearts?
Would it reduce the number of irresponsible lovers out there?
Would it improve relationships and its commitments?
Get into the new week with some funk in your strides!
Working Monday is halfway gone. What have you been able to achieve in the hours past? Maximising your week is the best way to enjoy the approaching weekend.
So here’s a few ways to make the best of a new week:
Draw up a schedule of what to do. Marry your thoughts with action. If you are going to be productive then you need a map towards that path. This makes it easy to approach your day and get things done properly and on time and the result? You feel great!
Eat less. Food just always gets in the way of productivity. So drink a lot of water, but eat less. Do you feel that funny drowsing feeling anytime you have lunch at work? Not good, right? So reduce the size of meal you devour. Take fruits instead and drink lots of water, yes. No soda! Very important.
Get in touch with your warm side. Make a call that is totally unrelated to work and get into a cool conversation. Call a friend, call your mum or you significant other. Laugh, share a joke, hold a smile all day. It balances all the work.
So let’s make this week a productive one, yes? Yay!

I have always loved this song ‘Great Nation’ by Timi Dakolo and the strong message it has.
Today, as I stepped out of my home to see Nigerians turning out in their numbers to decide the future of our Great Nation, I was truly touched. I saw even the elderly standing on queues, braving the hot sun to vote and for sure, I know that Nigeria is a Great Nation with Great People.
The lyrics of the song are powerful and I’d like us to remember today that We Are All We Have.
The Lyrics
Here we stand as a people
With one song: with one voice
We’re a nation: undivided and poised
We will take our stand: and build our land
With faith: to defend what we love
Here we are as a people
With one heart: for one cause
We’re determined: to rebuild and restore
Where freedom reigns: and truth prevails
A land where there’s hope for us all (2x)
(Chorus)
We’re all we have, we’ll defend our land
We believe in this nation, and we know we’ll get there
We’re all we have, we’ll defend our land
We believe in Nigeria and the promise she holds
And that one day we’ll shine like the sun
We’re a great nation
Though we are many people
Different tribes: different tongues
We’re united in our strength and resolve
To uphold the honour of our land
And for generations to come
(Chorus)
We’re all we have, we’ll defend our land
We believe in this nation, and we know we’ll get there
We’re all we have, we’ll defend our land
We believe in Nigeria and the promise she holds
And that one day we’ll shine like the sun
We’re a great nation

I was chatting with a friend yesterday about Christmas and you can imagine my surprise when she said she didn’t feel the Christmas fever like I did.
Of course, all of the shops are full of Christmas presents and buildings are decorated with Christmas lights and trees but she still didn’t feel the Christmas vibe. So, do you know what I did? I played this song for her and we spent the next hour listening to other great Christmas songs from Pentatonix and you bet, she started feeling the vibes.
This is an amazing group and most of their songs just leave goosebumps on my skin.
So guys, its two weeks to Christmas and as we count down to this awesome day, I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas in advance.
Are you in the mood for Christmas like me? Or do you need something to cheer you up? This song surely will:
DRY has been in the work for over three years. I’m excited because I put my all into it. VVF is an issue I am very passionate about and I have witnessed real-life situations of victims and the stigmatization from society. I present DRY because these lonely voices of young girls and women suffering this ailment need to be launched so as to effect healing and inspiration.
Here’s the press release:
An inspired true story of Zara and Halima two souls faced with the living conditions of child brides in West Africa.
Nollywood A-List Actress, director and producer Stephanie Linus has wrapped up production for her new film “DRY” from her production company Next Page Productions. Written, produced and directed by Stephanie Linus, the film is an inspired true story based on a young girl Stephanie met in Nigeria many years ago, Aisha.
According to Stephanie, “DRY journeys into heart-wrenching details of a culture not too many film dare to explore. The issue might seem controversial, but if it will set one girl free and open the minds of the people, and also instruct different bodies and individuals to take action, then the movie would have served its purpose.”
The movie follows a trail of Zara’s (played by Stephanie Linus) trip to Africa, her constant turmoil as a result of inexplicable horrors from her child hood, her experiences and heartaches while working with young girls suffering from complications from early child birth as child brides, against the backdrop of a rich African culture. It is full of intrigue, suspense, unbelievable surprises, the joy of reconciliation and the power of the human spirit that is guaranteed to captivate and engage movie enthusiast.
The film stars: Darwin Shaw as Dr. Alex, the legendary Liz Benson Ameye as the Matron, Bill McNamara as Dr. Brown, and Introducing Zubaida Ibrahim Fagge as Halima the teenager who had to endure a life not designed for a child: to be married to a man who was more than four times her age. The production of this film was supported by the Office of the special adviser to the president on MDGs Nigeria, Aberystwyth University Wales, Diamond Bank, Foundation for ethnic integration and harmony in Nigeria (FEHN), Office of the first lady of Ebonyi state, Mikano, Masters Energy and more.
The movie trailer for DRY can be watched through this link- http://youtu.be/soXkS9BnKu0
Also starring in the film are Olu Jacobs, Tijani Faraga, Hauwa Maina, Rahama Hassan, Rekiya Attah, Hakeem Hassan and Afamefuna Klint Igwemba (aka Klint da drunk)
The production’s creative team includes director of photography, Angel Barroeta, Executive producer, Linus Idahosa, co-produced by Jane Lawalata with Akanimo Odon and Murtza Ali Ghaznavi as line producers and Chinedu Omorie as 1st AD.
Moviegoers can follow the film on the official movie site at www.themoviedry.com, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/themoviedry or on Twitter @Drythemovie
Photos from the film can be downloaded at Bit.ly.com/TheMovieDry on Thursday, September 4th at 6AM Eastern Standard Time.
Last weekend was the graduation ceremony of 75 participants of the recently concluded Del-York Creative Academy in Lagos. So sad I missed the awesome event 🙁
I’m so grateful to all my friends from the Industry who made the event – Monalisa Chinda, Segun Arinze and Ufoma Ejenobor-McDermott and lent their support.
These participants went through a remoulding process under the tutelage of great minds from the American film industry. The workshop tagged ‘Film Made In Nigeria’ took place at the Digital Bridge Institute, Lagos where the participants were trained in courses such as editing, graphics design, directing, film making, special effects, production and set design, makeup and screen writing.
During the duration of the workshop, the students shot several short films which are a testament to the world-standard quality of training they received at the Academy. I have seen some of these films and was amazed at how they were able to display such a high level of creativity and professionalism after a four-week course!
The event took place on Friday 15th August 2014 at the Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos. It was one of class, colour and style as it attracted the crème de la crème from various industries who all shared a common passion for growth of Nigeria’s creative sector. Also in attendance was the Consular-General of France to Nigeria, Mr Francois Sastourne, and seasoned Lawyer and Partner at Abraham & Co Solicitors Mena Ajakpovi.
There is no doubt that Nollywood is set for a revolution as these bright minds are ready to take the Industry by storm. Check out some photos from the Award Night & Graduation Ceremony.
