  • World Toilet Day: 4 Toilet Habits You Should Avoid

You probably do not know it, but you might have habits that may have negative effects on your sensitive areas. Proper toilet practices do not only involve cleaning yourself after you have bowel movement. There are other practices that need to be avoided such as:

    1. Using your mobile phone in the toilet
Since a 2011 British study found that one in six mobile phones is contaminated with fecal matter, you should think twice about how taking your phone with you to the toilet. Water can also be aerosolized during flushing, and that mist can have fecal bacteria in it. And while the particles won’t stay in the air too long, they could land on anything near the toilet.

    2. Flushing with the lid up
If you don’t want to splash bacteria all over your bathroom, flush with the lid down. Pushing the handle can send particles splashing and floating as far as 6 feet away, according to the Harvard School of Public Health.

    3. Keeping your toothbrush close to the toilet bowl
Keeping it within 4 feet of the toilet increases your chance of contaminating it with fecal matter from the air. Store your toothbrush as far from the bowl as possible.

    4. Pants on the floor
Be careful where you keep your pants when you pull them down to use the toilet. If your pants fall all the way to your ankles, there’s a pretty high likelihood they will get covered with bacteria.

  • 5 Surprising Ways To Lose Weight Without Exercising

The greatest weight-loss strategies are the ones you can fit your body and life. So go ahead and take your pick!

    1. Drink a lot of water
Many people often mistake thirst for hunger. Aim to drink at least eight 8 glasses of water per day. Regularly drinking water allows your body to filter out toxins as well as can help you feel full. And, drinking water has the added benefit of clearer skin.

    2. Downsize
Serving your meals on a smaller plate will give you the illusion that you are eating more food. Dining with smaller plates, cups, bowls, and spoons will force you to savor your meal, and give your body the time it needs to register that you’re full.

    3. Get enough sleep
Did you ever notice that when you’re sleepy, you tend to eat more? Your observation is backed by science: Studies have shown that tired people put more food in their mouths. So get enough sleep to avoid packing on the weight.

    4. Journal Your Food
Keep a log of everything you eat including the amount, calories and time. Journaling forces you to be honest with yourself about how much you’re eating. This process will also enable you to recognize unhealthy patterns in your eating habits that you can cut out.

    5. Eat a good breakfast
Eat a heavy-on-protein breakfast every day, and you’ll control your hunger long into the day. For breakfast consider eggs, yogurt, or peanut butter. And, don’t let more than three hours pass between eating. Be sure to have small snacks available to eat between meals.

  • Vitamin C Overload – Citrus Day

You already know that citrus (think: oranges, lemons, tangerines, limes, and grapefruit) is an excellent source of immune-boosting vitamin C. But citrus offers many other impressive health benefits, as well.

Generally, citrus fruits have the highest antioxidant activity of all fruits, helping to boost the immune system and protect against cancer and heart disease. All citrus fruits contain fiber, which helps you feel full longer. That’s also why it’s better to eat the fruit itself (an orange, for example) rather than just drink fruit juice.

Here are some things you probably didn’t know about citrus fruits and more reasons to take them daily:

    • Citrus fruits are an excellent source of vitamin C, a nutrient that strengthens the immune system and keeps your skin smooth and elastic.
    • Oranges have the highest amount of vitamin C among citrus fruits. A medium whole orange contains around 70 milligrams of vitamin C. Orange juice is a concentrated source of vitamin C because it removes the rind and most of the pulp, which are not as high in the vitamin.
    • Oranges may reduce the damaging effects of cholesterol and heart disease by protecting the inside of artery walls.
    • Research shows that citrus fruits help reduce the duration and severity of colds.
    • Citrus fruits are a good source of fiber. Just one cup of orange segments contains four grams of fiber. Fiber has several health benefits, including improving digestive health and aiding weight loss. Oranges are particularly high in soluble fiber, the kind of fiber that helps lower cholesterol levels.

Now you have more reasons to add citrus fruits to your shopping list. Stay healthy today and get your vitamins from these juicy fruits!

  • Quick Fix to a happier YOU

Before you read the voluminous books to happiness, there are quick ways to stay happy.

    Here goes:

Minding your business: If you stay away from other people’s drama and problems, you have a real chance of embracing true happiness.

Show empathy: If you stop gloating over the pain and mistakes of others, you will find that empathy (or even indifference) keeps sorrow away from you.

Have a realistic view about life. No fairy tales of a horse coming down from the clouds to pay your rent or wipe away your debts. If you want to be happy, embrace reality and start planning your life towards self-fulfillment.

Don’t expect too much from others. Nobody owes you anything you haven’t worked for. So chill with all that entitlements. If you want something done, you most likely would have to do it yourself. Disappointment is cousin to

    unhappiness.

Make the most of your uniqueness. Instead of trying to change what makes you different from others, accept what you are and channel your unique abilities towards success.

Have a cold drink (or take shower) to take your mind off the stress of the world. You can’t kill yourself.

    xoxo
