7 Ways To Avoid A Bad Day

Good morning SL Fabz!

It’s gonna be a great day, I’m sure of it. However, I know that once in a while, things might not just start off on such a bright note for everyone.

Maybe you had a stressful time getting to work, or you’re in a bad mood and feel the rest of the day is not going to turn out fine.

I know that feeling. Not to worry, there are some things you can do to avoid having a bad day. I found some of these tips on Inspower and these ones stood out to me more:

1. Wake Up On Time
While you need to wake up on time every day, make sure that you have ample time to eat breakfast and to plan your day. The worst thing you can do is to start off your day is being in hurry and running late to an appointment. When you do your body will be under stress, and if you repeat this every day over a period of time you risk ruining your health because of too much stress every morning.

2. Take Short Breaks Whenever You Can
Sometimes every moment of our day feels like a struggle and in other to stay positive it is helps to take breathers or short breaks at intervals between missions. Use these times to rest your mind, breathe deeply and clear your head.

3. Take A Nap
When all you want to do is avoid the world for a while, try taking a nap as it’ll fulfil your antisocial tendencies and let you recharge for a little there by refreshing your mood. Just make sure you do it in a way that won’t ruin your sleep that night.

4. Focus On Tomorrow
Sometimes the simple thought that we are heading into a new day and the knowledge that I’ll get another chance at it in less than 24 hours is enough to brighten us up. Make a game plan not to repeat whatever mistakes marred the day, and then just put all your focus in making tomorrow better.

5. Be Nice To People
Though it is as old as time, but has never gone out of style, when in trouble be nice to people around you, try to step outside yourself and treat them the way you’d like to be treated. This will not only help you keep a healthy perspective, but you’ll be more likely to maintain those healthy relationships.

6. Be Calm And Only Speak In A Pleasant Tone
Yelling never solves any problem and will only worsen a bad day, try been calm for a change and talk to people in a pleasant tone even when you are seething inside this helps to rid us of our anger and calm our nerves.

7. Have Something To Look Forward To At The End Of The Day
Sometimes we do need a prize or focus to keep our drive alive. When you feeling the day might be heading in the wrong direction, keep a focus. Just like the kid that uses the thought of chocolates to get through his homework, look forward to something you like to help you get through the day.

See How Adewunmi & Adeolu Got A “Honeymoon” on Episode 8 of Make Me Fabulous!

She is a young newly-wed who never had the opportunity to have a honeymoon with her husband.

She desired one and ‘Make Me Fabulous’ was the chance to have that.

On my blog, Adewunmi applied for the fabulous treat in the comment section and her story stood out to me.

I recently got married and we never had the chance to have our honeymoon. My husband is the very busy type and we hardly have time to spend with each other. This is really affecting my marriage. Please Stephanie, make me fabulous.

We don’t like refusing heartfelt comments like this on our show, so we did just that! See some exciting photos from Adewunmi & Adeolu’s fabulous treat.

The Make Me Fabulous team headed over to her house to pick Adewunmi and her husband up for that special…. errrm… Honeymoon Edition of Make Me Fabulous.

For Adewunmi, her honeymoon is becoming even more real and she wears a big smile as she meets up with Celebrity Stylist Moses at the Mango store to pick out some clothes.

Next stop is the hair stylist Joseph Mesrob who gives her a whole new hair do.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Kunbi of Sitpretty Makeovers also meets up with her and works with the hair team to give Adewunmi that complete and total makeover.

The first and only time Adewunmi ever wore makeup was at her wedding, and it was nothing too glamorous. She is not the makeup kinda person, she says. But when the makeover is done by a professional such as Kunbi of Sitpretty Makeover, she had a rethink. Stunning result!

I was the Brand Ambassador for the Vlisco Women’s Month and it was interesting to have the lovely young honeymooning couple as my guests at the event.

Smiles!!!

We had a lovely time before the couple headed over to dinner.

After a lovely evening, they are hungry but excited.

And when the food came, they devoured every bit of it.

Meeting the couple again after dinner was so beautiful. Adewunmi told me the day felt like a honeymoon and that made me so happy.

I had one more surprise for them… a LED TV from LG Electronics.

And of course, some Make Me Fabulous T-shirts.

Doris & Hycinth’s Awesome Time on the 7th Episode of Make Me Fabulous Show!

She had been married for less than two years, but already, the demands of catering for a five month old baby and her husband was taking its toll on Doris.

Doris reached out to me on this blog Stephaniedaily when we called for entries for the show, saying she would love to have a fabulous time with her husband away from home. This was her comment:

I got married in April last year. My husband is such an amazing person with a heart of gold. I love him very much and would love to have a fabulous time with him even though we have financial constraints.

My team and I read her story and decided she deserved this treat.

With her shopping done, its time for another treat.

Now, it’s time to head to the Beauty Concerns Spa for a massage and a facial.

And look, she’s having the massage with her husband too. Isn’t that cool?

Doris now heads to Celebrity Hair Stylist Joseph Mesrob who would transform her hair.

The team worked together with Celebrity Make-up Artist Kunbi of Sit Pretty Makeovers who glammed her up with the perfect makeover.

Oh, my! Doesn’t she look stunning!!!

Her husband sits, patiently, waiting for his wife…

But he has no idea we’ve transformed her into this stunner.

I love the surprised look on his face.

And the very warm hug they share before settling to dinner.

I love that!

Her smile is so heart warming… While they are rounding up their dinner, I’m somewhere getting ready to surprise them.

They weren’t expecting me. They were so surprised!

And I couldn’t stop admiring Doris’ look.

But I had one more surprise for them. A lovely Air Conditioner from LG Electronics!

All The Exciting Photos from Becky & Ben Elu’s Day on Make Me Fabulous Show!

Lagos is a city where the hustle and bustle can be so over whelming, you have little time to treat yourself and your loved one to an intimate time. You wake up very early in the morning to meet up with work time and appointments, spend hours in traffic, and get home exhausted most of the time!

Just like many couples in Lagos, that was the story of Becky and Ben Elu. Becky, who was obviously very overwhelmed with her hectic daily routine and the demands of taking care of her little son reached out to me on my website for a chance to be a part of the Make Me Fabulous show. And she got more than a chance, she got picked because… well… I could totally relate with her story.

Here’s what she wrote:
The reason why I should win this make over fabulous treat is that every day I have to wake up by 4:30AM and get ready for work, as a nursing mother because I & my husband would go and drop our baby in my Mum’s house and there’s no enough time.

Now tell me, who wouldn’t understand that! Sometimes it seems like 24 hours aren’t enough for one day right? What Becky and Ben needed was sometime away from their regular routine and a fabulous treatment.

First, we had to get some glam clothes for her at the Grey Velvet Store.

And luckily, we had Celebrity Stylist Bubu Ogisi to help make the right choices.

Next, the lovely team at Talise Salon & Hamam fixed up Becky’s hair.

As well as a facial treatment…

… and a body massage.

Ben also got a haircut and a shave to get him looking dapper for his wifey!

One more thing for Becky… A makeover!

Exciting Photos from The Thomas’ Treat on Make Me Fabulous Episode 5

After a few years of marriage, the demands and responsibilities of catering for a family begins to take its toll on most couples.

This happens in a lot of homes today.

As a woman, add this to the often hectic demand of catering for young kids and you have someone eagerly yearning for an intimate adventure with her husband away from home.

Folashade Thomas felt this way when she reached out to me for a chance to be on the on the show.
Her comment stood out to me. She said:

We’ve been married four years now. And after two babies, I guess the spark is all gone. All we talk about is the kids. He goes to work everyday, comes back late, and even when on leave, there is either one family engagement to attend to. Maybe this can save our marriage.

I hate to hear a couple say they are losing their spark and couldn’t resist giving her a treat cos I felt she truly deserved it. Today, I’m glad to share with you photos from the Thomas’ treat on the 6th episode of Make Me Fabulous!!!

First things first. We pick Folashade and her husband from their home.

The Thomas’ are all set and ready to go!

They were so happy to see the car we brought to pick them – A Porsche!

I love how they are already getting cozy inside!

They had no idea we were bringing them to the Federal Palace Hotel & Casino.

Such a warm reception from the hotel.

Their hotel suite is already doing its magic! Love the way they are warming up to each other.

Awww…..

Arm in arm, they stroll back to the hotel lobby…

…for a drink and some snacks.

Now it’s time to take Folashade out for some treats.

First stop is the Enthyst Events & Bridals store where she meets up with Celebrity Stylist – Yummie who is set to glam her up for a dinner date with her husband!

Wow! Lots of goodies to pack!!!

Next, Folashade catches up with her husband at the Oasis Med Spa for a relaxed spa session.

We needed to take Folashade’s hair from plain to glam, and the talented Joseph Mesrob from Joseph Mesrob Hair & Nails did just that!

Of course, a fab makeover was necessary too. Bimpe Onakoya worked her magic on Folashade’s face.

Now, this is what I call a transformation! Within a few hours, Joseph Mesrob and Bimpe Onakoya took her from that to this!!! Yummie added her special touch with the clothes and accessories and she was FAB – U – LOUS!

Even Joseph could hardly believe how lovely she looked.

Back to the hotel, Folashade can’t wait to meet her man.

You bet Mr Thomas is going to be stunned when he sees her!

Aww.. so sweet. Look at that smile!

He can’t believe how gorgeous she looks.

They settle down for a romantic dinner…

While I prep myself to give them a surprise visit and some gifts.

I was so happy to meet the Thomas’.

Folashade had so much energy, and so much to share.

While chatting with them, I realised that they were two people who really loved each other and needed to put just a little extra effort to make their marriage more enjoyable.

They promised me that they would do that much and this made me very glad.

Before presenting their gifts, we played for a short Roulette game.

Folashade also got this lovely black and silver bag from Enthyst.

Of course, we didn’t forget their ‘Make Me Fabulous’ t-shirts.

The Inspiring Story of 3 Chibok Girls Who Escaped Boko Haram Captivity

They look just like the average teenagers, happy and in school. But their smiles now do not reflect the harrowing and near death experience they faced over a year ago when they were kidnapped along with over a hundred girls from their school in Borno state.

Mercy, Sarah and Dolapo are survivors from the Boko Haram Chibok kidnapping.

By a streak of luck, a few dozen of the kidnapped girls managed to escape. Yet, more than 200 remain missing till date.

Now, thanks to a nonprofit group in Virginia, USA, The Jubilee Campaign, and activists from Nigeria, the girls are living and schooling in Oregon, USA. Coming from a deeply poor, rural village in Borno state with no Internet access to the Canyonville Christian Academy, a cozy boarding school with students from more than a dozen countries, you can say their destinies have greatly changed.

I read their interview on Cosmopolitan today and it warmed my heart. They are brave, yes, very brave, to risk losing their lives when they ran out of their captivity in the forest.

Here is a touching excerpt:

There are rough moments too. “They’re teenage girls. They miss their moms and their families,” says Roome. “They want to go home for the summer, but it’s too dangerous. They have nightmares. They are terrified that Boko Haram will burn the school down. Sometimes they want to sleep with the lights on. They say, ‘But it’s so black. It’s so black.’ I tell them, ‘They are not coming for you.’”

They’ve been through so much, lost their loved ones, separated from their family… and now, here they are, pretty and smiling.

So inspiring!

How To Make Coconut Oil Lip Balm
Hi dearies,

When it comes to beauty products, sometimes, natural and home made stuff are just the best.

As ladies, the first step to taking good care of our lips is by giving it the moisture it deserves. I recently saw this video by Buzzfeed on how to make your own lip balm, and believe me, its straight forward and very easy to make. I particularly like the fact that the texture is creamy, it is 100% natural and doesn’t contain any thing harmful.

This homemade balm is designed to help seal in moisture and not just dry up and off, but actually sink into your lips. You’d need the following ingredients:
- Coconut Oil
- BeesWax
- Honey
- Vitamin E
- Vanilla Extract (Optional)
- Essential Oil (Optional)
- Preferred Container(s)
How To Make It
1. First you grate the beeswax and pop it in the oven to melt down to liquid form.
2. After this you take it out of the oven and add the other ingredients to the melted beeswax. Then mix it together till you have a smooth paste and place it back in the oven.
3. Be sure to check it at 30-second intervals and mix it til its completely melted.
4. Take it out of the oven and pour into the preferred containers and let set until solid.

The Oreniyi Family Get A Special Treat on the Make Me Fabulous Family Edition!

Spending time together as a family is important for building strong family ties, making lifelong memories and creating an environment that builds self-esteem and character in children.

When asked, children say the number one thing they want most from their parents is time. Unfortunately, due to the busy schedules of most parents in their bid to provide financially for the home, this doesn’t happen very often. This is what we sought out to change on the Make Me Fabulous Show!

Mr Oreniyi works in a telecommunication company and his job often takes him away on long trips away from home. As a result of this, his family hardly gets to spend quality time with him and they were in desperate need of a fabulous treat. He reached out to me when we called for entries for the Family Edition of the show and we were so glad to host them.

They had a fabulous time at the Federal Palace Hotel & Casino where they were lodged. They got to swim, play golf and tennis and have a lovely outdoor dinner. Shopping for the entire family was done at the Maxx Store, while Mrs Oreniyi got herself a fab makeover from a stellar team: Hair by Nancy of Davnans Hair Salon, Makeover by Bimpe Onakoya and Styling by Yummie.

… and their beautiful kids. This was our first time having an entire family on the show, so we were prepared for some fun!

Of course, we had to ride in style again… in a Porsche!

Time for some shopping!!!

With the shopping done, we whisk Mrs Oreniyi away go get her hair done…

…while the rest of the family returns to the hotel for some more fun.

After getting her hair done, Mrs Oreniyi joins the family again for some swimming. I love how happy they look together and the matching colours of their swimming gear!

For the kids, this was their first time in a swimming pool and they were super excited!

What an interesting day that was! But the fun isn’t over yet. Time for a family dinner.

For this lovely family, we wanted to give them the complete holiday package with a Hawaiian-themed outdoor dinner and the lovely grounds of the hotel provided the perfect ambience for that.
