  • 10 Reasons To Wear A Smile This Week

You’re never fully dressed without a smile ~ Martin Charnin

Have you every heard the quip “It takes more muscles to frown than smile”? It seems truth is behind this statement, and there are many other benefits that accompany the resolution to smile more than just an attractive face. It’s the start of another week and although things might seem not seem so bright in some areas of your life, put a smile on it and see how better things become.

Here are 10 reasons I choose to smile this week. Do add yours in the comment section.

    1. Smile because you are blessed to see today, and should make the most of it
    2. Smile because there is no one else like you in this world
    3. Smile because it is the world’s easiest, most accessible stress reliever
    4. Smile because a smile is the best makeup anyone can wear
    5. Smile because there is hope and a promise of a better tomorrow
    6. Smile because you have people around you who love and care for you
    7. Smile because you live in a world of endless possibilities
    8. Smile because every cloud has a silver lining
    9. Smile because you choose to wear your experience as wisdom, not baggage.
    10. Smile because you can!

    Have a smiletastic week!

  • What Advice Would You Give Your Younger Self?

With age comes experience, with experience comes knowledge and with knowledge comes understanding.

Many times as young children, teenagers and even in our post teenage years, we get advice from our parents and older ones which we just shun. We’ve all been there. Sometimes we think they are old fashioned and don’t just want us to have our way. Or we do things just because they said we shouldn’t do it. We probably succumbed to peer pressure and were affected by our mates telling us we were not good/talented/pretty enough.

Many times, we get really burnt when we don’t listen to such advice and we only realize that when we’ve learnt our lesson. We have regrets for actions we took even when we were warned not to and wish we could reverse the hands of time. That we know is impossible.

But today, let’s just imagine we could. Let’s imagine we were much younger, moments before we took that step/did that thing we were not supposed to do. That thing we wish we didn’t do. Now that you know better, what advice would you give your younger self?

  • Motivational Monday: It’s Never Too Late

“I started working in the fields when I was five. After that, I worked construction for thirty years. Eight years ago, I was between jobs and I wanted to do something useful, so I started going to school. It took me 8 years to get through middle school, because I could only go to classes when work was slow, but I finished with a 9.3 out of 10. Now I’m moving on to high school. The toughest part is Algebra.”

    (Mexico City, Mexico)

Many times we think time has passed us by and it would be impossible to achieve our dreams. But stories like this make me realize that it really is never too late.

I found this story on Humans of Newyork and just knew I had to share it here. Imagine being in high school at this age! However, he has a dream and he is living his dream regardless of his age.

It would be really terrible to get old and have regrets of not doing things you really wanted to do when you had the strength. You want to start a company, go ahead! You want to go back to school, take that exam! You want to write a book, get started! You want to go somewhere, take a first step!

It’s never too late. Don’t focus on what was taken away. Find something to replace it, and acknowledge the blessing you have. You never know what you can accomplish until you try.

    Have a great week!

  • After the storm, comes the sun!

We all go through difficult situations in our lives; it could be financial, a natural disaster that destroys our home and sense of well being, or it could be the sudden loss of a job or someone we love; whatever it is we can’t let these situations defeat us.

It’s OK to take a moment to reflect and even cry but, once we let it all out, we have to wipe our tears away and move forward.

There will be times when we find out just how strong we really are, and that we can overcome any obstacle that falls in our path, if we just believe in ourselves, and never give up.

Don’t forget to smile when times are tough, take time to smell the roses, and to get rid of negative thoughts because when you are going through a difficult time you definitely need something positive to focus on during the storm.

  • It’s Time For You To Love Yourself

As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering
are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth.
Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody
As I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time
was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this
person was me. Today I call it “RESPECT”.

As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life,
and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow. Today I call it “MATURITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance,
I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens
at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm.
    Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”.

As I began to love myself I quit steeling my own time,
and I stopped designing huge projects for the future.
Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do
and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in
my own rhythm. Today I call it “SIMPLICITY”.

As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for
my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew
me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude
a healthy egoism. Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”.

As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since
I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”.

As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worry
about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where EVERYTHING
is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.

As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me
and it can make me sick. But As I connected it to my heart, my
mind became a valuable ally. Today I call this
    connection “WISDOM OF THE HEART”.

We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing new worlds are born. Today I know THAT IS “LIFE”!

This poem was written by Charlie Chaplin, the late English actor and comedian and it summarizes my message to you today. With his powerful words filled with truth and intense emotion, Charlie Chaplin calls upon the reader to look upon themselves and ask, “Do I really love who I am and who I’m becoming?

I invite you all to breathe these words in and reflect on what it truly means to love yourself.

    Have a great day!

  • These Touching Acts Of Kindness Will Definitely Inspire You

Isn’t it so wonderful the way one act of kindness leads to another and in most cases, a good reward for the person being kind?

God is omnipresent, everywhere at once, and He sees every good deed of kindness, and love, and he repays! The Bible tells us He loves to pour out blessings upon us: Matt 25:40

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers, and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

We are all the least of these brothers and sisters! Acts of loving your brother begins with all of us.

I was deeply touched by this video below. Just a two dollar hot dog gave that homeless man a meal, and hope he may not have had otherwise. I invite everyone watching this video to do just one act of kindness everyday.

  • 5 Positive Thoughts To Think Everyday

We spend hours and hours dwelling and ruminating on the negative and fearful things in our lives. We worry about what could go wrong, instead of focusing and paying attention to the rational, the positive and the good. We should train ourselves to focus on thoughts that will move us forward in the right direction.

Here are some things we should occupy our minds with everyday:

    1. I AM GOOD AT EVERYTHING THAT I DO
Nobody is perfect, but you ARE perfect when you give your all and try your hardest to be your best self. By telling yourself that you are good at everything you do, you will slowly begin to realize just how special you are. You will also give birth to this beautiful voice inside your head that will encourage you along the way and help you feel unstoppable, no matter what life throws at you.

    2. TODAY IS AN AWESOME DAY
Set the intention as soon as you wake up that today will be an awesome day! Things can go wrong or maybe not go as you planned for them to go, but by saying to yourself throughout the day that today is an awesome day, you will begin attracting awesome things to come your way. Don’t just say it… believe it!

    3. I CAN HANDLE MORE THAN I THINK I CAN
This is a powerful affirmation. Empower and uplift your spirits throughout the day by thinking and believing that you can handle anything that you set your mind too. You can handle more than you think you can. If you’ve come this far, go farther.

    4. I WILL SEE THE GOOD IN EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE
Being in a mental state of thanksgiving will help brighten any rainy day. Rather than scolding the driver who cut you off on your way to work, see that he was probably in a rush too. Rather than feeling bitter towards your friend who started flirting with your crush, see the good that maybe the guy is all wrong for you and it’s better that you don’t pursue him. It’s really tough to see things “glass half full” but just try it and see what happens.

    5. NO MATTER WHAT, I LOVE MYSELF
Above all, tell yourself how much you love you. Even if everyone to your left and everyone to your right is against you, you will only be able to make it through the storm and see the rainbow on the other side if you love yourself above everything else. When someone has self-love, that someone is unstoppable.

Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

    Happy positive thinking!

  • Why You Should Follow Your Passion

    Follow Your Passion

I’m a big proponent of doing what you’re passionate about.

Often times, people get excited and passsionate about an idea, but they quickly lose steam and soon lose their drive to see their idea through. I know that things might be tough, and ideas sometimes take a long time to take shape, but I’ve found that there are several benefits of finding your passion and following it up.

    Here are some: (more…)
