  • What’s Your Next Chapter?

Every month is like flipping to the next chapter of a book where you play the protagonist.

MAY is here! It’s time to flip to the next chapter. Care to read out loud the pages of the next chapter of your life? We ask three women:

Closeup image of open book, isolated on white background

“My next chapter is finally resigning from a job I have held for eight years. I am ready for my transition. No, I am not starting a business or getting another job. I am working towards becoming a fulltime traveler and a content creator. You may wonder why I would reached such a bold decision. Well, I was sick for all of 2021, right out of 2020 lockdown – then bedridden for eight months! Something about working eight years, and bedridden for eight months did something to me. Life is beyond our grasps. I realize I would rather see the world and die, than be at work and still die. I am not dying anytime soon. I am fully recovered, but the entire experience changed me. Work hasn’t been the same since then. I tried to gather my confidence to resign in 2022, but I couldn’t. This year – this month – I am doing it! I am taking the leap and doing it afraid. Pray for me.” – Amarachi

“My next chapter is: starting a project I have always wanted to do. I don’t think I am ever going to be fully ready, but I am tired of waiting – waiting for funds, waiting for people to believe in me. I am going to jump in and make it work.” – Bawa

“My next chapter is: having a conversation with my mother about our poor relationship. We are so different, we argue a lot, we don’t see eye-to-eye. It has been strenuous and stressful. We are both getting older, and I desire to have a very kind and loving relationship with my mother, and I fear if we don’t have that conversation now, we will never be able to fix us, and we will continue to drift away. We are all we have – both of us. We need to humble ourselves and heal together.” – Faith

Dear reader, what’s your next chapter?

  • YOU DESERVE A SEAT AT THE TABLE

    Say these words:

    I deserve to be here.

    I will TAKE UP SPACE.

I will be heard. I will contribute to the growth of my life and my community.

I bring value to every position. I am respected, loved and understood.

I am a solution to someone’s problem. I am part of decision-making. I will not waste my life and my time.

I will serve a greater purpose for mankind, but first I will affirm myself and believe in my abilities.

My seat at the table is for my tribe – those who may not be represented, I will speak for them.

The room belongs to us. The table is big enough. This seat belongs to our voice. I will occupy it and make the best use of the opportunity – this seat at the table will bring healing to many.

I am helping many when I sit at the table. The opportunity to have a seat at the table will bring my purpose to life, and bring happiness to many lives I may never meet.

I will sit at the table – this table will feed many.

    I deserve to be here.

    xoxo

  • The entire idea of LIFE is to conquer FEAR every day

Nobody understands fear like black women.

“Should I stay with him and work it out?”

“How am I going to cope with being a mother to toddlers and running a business?”

“Should I listen to people and have another baby?”

“Will I be seen as aggressive if I share my opinions?”

“Can I make good friends regardless of the stereotype of women hating on one another?”

The difference between failing and winning is in DOING regardless of FEAR.

This February do not give room for fear.

Here are 5 of our favourite quotes on fear:

“Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it.” – Judy Blume

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

“Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” – Yoda

“Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.’ – Marie Curie

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” – Frank Herbert in Dune

    Happy New Month!

  • You Have The Strength To Overcome

Life has a funny way of testing us. We are constantly presented with obstacles that we must somehow find the strength to overcome. Maybe you’ve come up against some unforeseen difficulties or you are stuck in an unfair circumstance, I hope these words encourage you today.

Sometimes, the challenges of life make you doubt your own value. Negative voices remind you of your shortcomings, fears and regrets. However, no matter what has happened or what will happen, remember that you will never lose your worth. We all encounter times when we need strength we can’t muster on our own, despite our hard work and best efforts. But remember, the strength to hold fast to God’s word and continue in faith adds grit to our ability to persevere through disappointments or challenging times.

The question is not, will you overcome? It is, when will you overcome? Life will always bring challenges. But God will always give YOU strength to face them.

Be encouraged Amazonians and Warlords! YOU WILL OVERCOME!

  • It’s not over yet!

Every year typically has a few defining moments, but 2020 has been one for the history books.

From the way the pandemic has exposed the failures of our social system, to the #BlackLivesMatter protests that shook the world, to the plans we’ve made and had to ditch, and much more – there have been so many challenges and obstacles that life has thrown at us.

Life as we know it came to a full stop due to the coronavirus pandemic. But guess what? It’s not over yet!

God has a way of bringing diamond out of the rough and He can turn any difficult situation into a miracle. As we step into a new month and the third part of 2020, I want to encourage you to stay positive and reach for your dreams with renewed zeal. Anything is possible and God still has lots of surprises for you this year.

I wish you a great new month and the best of the rest of 2020.

  • 5 Things I Love About Mondays

    It’s Monday!

Yes I know we are still in very uncertain times around the world, but hey, the start of another work week is always a good opportunity for us to press that reset button, accomplish things and tackle our goals head on.

So, let’s jump right into it! Here are 5 reasons why I absolutely love Mondays!

    1. Lists! Mondays for me is a day of writing those important lists. I’m a firm believer of organization. You can get a lot done when you know exactly what you want out of your day and week.
    2. You start afresh with renewed energy and motivation. No matter what happened last week, Monday always seems like a fresh start.
    3. You’ve got a whole week ahead of you to achieve your goals. Set goals about how you want your week to look like on Mondays and enjoy a fulfilling week ahead.
    4. Mondays give me an opportunity to push through those difficult tasks I thought I couldn’t achieve. There’s this burst of energy that tells me that I am able and constantly working at conquering my fear.
    5. It’s a beautiful day to be you! Be happy to be living and grateful that you get to experience such a wonderful day!
  • You Are Unstoppable!

What do Unbelieveable, Unbreakable and Unstoppable have in common?

    They all begin with U!

You are unstoppable, not because you do not have failures or doubts, but because you continue despite them.

Start where you are. Use what you have.

If you get tired, learn to rest, not quit.

You can handle whatever life throws at you.

You are stronger than you think, and the future holds great things for you.

Believe in yourself and you will be unstoppable!
