  • Welcome to the month of August!!!

    Happy New Month!!!

It’s a beautiful new day, welcome to the eight month of the year, the month of August!

I pray that this month shall signal the start of amazing things for you and your loved ones. It’s a special month of God’s goodness and grace. Has God promised you anything? Hold on tight to those promises and they will very soon come to pass. God is never late, He is always on time. This is your set month for the fulfillment of His promises so step into it with joy and gladness.

I wish you the very best this new month.

  • Do You Really Know Who You Are?

Have you ever wondered how important it is to really know who you are? Trust me, it’s more important than you think.

Finding that uniqueness in you that would ultimately lead you to purpose and fulfillment. And you can only discover that by trying.

It may sound cliché but knowing who you are is the key to unlocking that door that you desperately want to open. Knowing who you are will help you when it’s time to fight. Fight for the career you want, fight for the messages you want to pass across, fight for the people who mean the most to you and fight for the kind of world you want to live in. Finding or discovering your passion and following it can lead to opportunities that you have never imagined.

For as long as I can remember I wanted to be an actress. I wanted to tell stories and make people visualize those things I could only see in my mind. Pursuing this creative streak led me to activism – activism led me to speak out for the marginalized in our society using my artistic skills – then led to meeting people all around the world who connected with my vision – and ultimately, that vision led me here today. You may have a similar career with the person seated next to you, but how you execute your tasks must be different from that person.

Being normal will never make a person extraordinary. Don’t play it safe and don’t be afraid of criticism. I’ve had more than a fair share of that. When I decided to make a socially relevant movie about fistula, people told me it would be a flop. They told me I would lose money and that no one would be interested in it. To make matters more complicated, I decided to name the movie ‘DRY’. You can imagine – they concluded that it would be ‘DRY’ before even seeing it! Today, that vision has not only changed lives and educate people around the world but has birthed a movement for maternal health and women empowerment that I hope would someday outlive me.

To achieve excellence, you need to stretch out of your comfort zone. I’m not promising you that your efforts would always end in success. You would fail a number of times, that I can promise you. But you see, that’s the beauty in it. The journey. Don’t miss that. The journey IS the destination and greatness belongs to those why try. Life is about growing and learning new skills that you will carry with you for the rest of your lives. There will be times when you feel like you cannot possibly go on. There will be times when you think you are backed against the wall. Fear is going to be a player in your life, but you get to decide how much. There will be obstacles along your way, but stay on that path, your own unique path, and you would surely get what you desire. It is the difficult days, the ones that challenge you to your very core that will determine who you are.

  • His Grace Will See You Through

When we face difficulties, it’s important to remember that our words have power:

The tongue has the power of life and death” (Proverbs 18:21).

So while it might be tempting to say, “I don’t know how I’m going to make it…” the truth is, “I will make it with God’s help because God promises, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).

The grace of God will find you. No matter where you’ve gone or how far you’ve drifted nowhere is out of the reach of God’s grace.

No matter what storm you face, God will see you through. He is faithful.

I say unto you, keep praying and trusting in God. Do not turn right or left, but press on straight ahead. Do not give up, His grace will see you through.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

I pray that God’s grace will be sufficient for you this day and always.

When you’re facing hard times, what scriptures do you lean on to remind yourself that God will see you through the storm? Please share them in the comments.

  • Monday Motivation: Get Up & Show Up!

It’s a brand new week, lovelies…. time to get up and show up!

We’re already almost halfway through the year. How are you doing with your goals? You might not be exactly where you want to be yet, however, with the right motivation, you can turn that attitude around and get excited for Monday to begin so you can feel a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment in your life.

I hope these quotes inspire you as you step into the day and the new week!

“People who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

“This should be the spirit every Monday. Know that something good will always happen.”

“You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you.”

  • SUNDAY THOTS: Be Encouraged!

No matter what comes your way, God is not surprised. Your challenge was not sent to defeat you; it was sent to increase you.

Difficulties and obstacles are God’s challenges to faith. When hindrances confront us in the path of duty, we are to recognize them as vessels for faith to fill with the fullness and all-sufficiency of Jesus.

God never takes away something from your life without replacing it with something better.

I hope these words encourage someone who might be going through some difficult situation. Hold on and trust God in ALL situations. You will come out better. Be encouraged!

  • Flourish Like A Palm Tree

The palm tree is not affected by any season. Whether in raining or dry season. You are a spiritual palm tree, no matter the season, you will always stay fresh and green.

You will never suffer dryness and so shall it be by the grace of God, Amem.

    Happy Sunday!

  • Here’s One Simple Trick To Getting Yourself Motivated

Everyone gets unmotivated at times. Trust me, it happens to all of us. In fact, sometimes we get into such a slump that even thinking about making positive changes seems too difficult.

You make goals… but then you procrastinate.

You write a to-do list… but then you don’t follow through.

And this happens again and again and again. Seriously, what’s the problem?

Why are we so good at thinking of what to do but so terrible at actually doing those things?

We all face obstacles. How you deal with those obstacles defines who you are and determines how successful you are in life. Here’s one simple trick I’ve found that always works to motivate me when I feel down:

    Set SMALL AND SPECIFIC GOALS.

Motivation requires a target. It’s hard to get motivated when your goals are vague, undefined, and as a result, impossible to achieve. You will be more motivated if you define your goals and break them down into smaller goals that you can take bites out of accomplishing on a regular basis. Make sure your smaller goals are still meaningful to you and be sure to break them down into things you can actually accomplish otherwise your motivation will tank.

If you complete the task and still itching for more? You can always raise the bar if you’re feeling particularly motivated. Take note that if you feel highly overwhelmed while tackling your goal, chances are it’s too high and you need to lower it to something more realistic or specific.

When you have finished that small task you’ll feel more alert and ready to go do the next thing. You just to get started to get motivated.

You cannot maintain energy and focus if you are trying to do two or more goals at once. It’s not possible — I’ve tried it many times. You have to choose one goal, for now, and focus on it completely. I know, that’s hard. Still, I speak from experience. You can always do your other goals when you’ve accomplished your One Goal.

So if you really don’t feel like doing anything, start with something small and work your way up.

  • Comparison: The Greatest Thief Of Joy

This quotation, from Theodore Roosevelt, argues that comparing your work, your life, or whatever else will only serve to make you unhappy. Why? This is because, in most cases, comparison is corrosive. It eats away at your ability to be content and confident. It is a poison that kills the love you have for yourself.

I am sure that if you think about it you have your own list of qualities you envy in others, and also a list of qualities people envy in you. The point is, we all have a unique makeup of skills, faults, blessings and infirmities that make us who we are.

It’s so easy to compare ourselves to others. When we do that, we simply do not measure up. We tend to compare our worst with another person’s best, and that makes us feel terrible. We feel we are too flat or too curvy, too little or too big, not enough or too much. And it doesn’t feel good.

Comparing ourselves to others simply removes focus from what we should be excited about within ourselves.

So don’t hold yourself up to some outside vague standard of greatness. Judge your work by your principles and leave comparison out of the equation.

  • You Are Good Enough, You Just Have To Believe It!

Fear is an ugly word. It keeps us from true happiness because it prevents us from taking risks. We avoid anything slightly painful, even though staying in the current situation hurts more.

Sometimes the pressure coming from peers, family, work, and society in general is enough to make us feel completely broken inside. If we don’t have the “right” job, relationship, lifestyle, and so forth, by a certain age or timeframe, we assume we’re just “not good enough.”

We’ve all been there. We all have bad days and moments of self-doubt.

Sometimes the reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our circumstances with everyone else’s. Forget what everyone else is doing and achieving. Your life is about breaking your own limits and outgrowing yourself to live YOUR best life.

SL Fabz, as we step into another new week, I’d just like to remind us that we are all good enough, and we all deserve the best. We just have to believe it.

Keep on having hope and let the beauty of the brighter days ahead of you carry you on until you reach your dreams.

    xoxo
