  • #MakeMeFabulous: Why did I get Married?

There’s a Tyler Perry movie with that title. The movie tries to expose some of the ups-and-downs we face in our marriages.

It’s a situation many of us can relate to. After a while it seems love begins to slow down.

But is that really the case? Or is it just an issue of other things distracting the couple from themselves.

That is where #MakeMeFabulous comes in.

We are repairing homes by helping couples rediscover themselves.

If you have been too busy to notice how beautiful your wife is, then the programme is going to help you look at her in a different more pleasant way.

And you can recount all the beautiful times you have shared.

That’s what to expect from #MakeMeFabulous!

So tomorrow, Sunday May 24, #MakeMeFabulous will be on your TV screens at 7pm on DSTV’s Africa Magic Showcase, Channel 151.

Make sure you don’t miss it.

And feel free to share your comments on this blog.

    Love always! xoxo

  • What kind of compliment will make you smile all day?

Every once in a while we meet someone who just brightens our day with something nice to say.

    “I love your shoes”
    “You’ve got lovely eyes”
    “You have impressive business skills”

These are just a few nice words to say that can change the course of someone’s day.

I think compliment is a good icebreaker and can leave a lasting impression.

Note that this is different from plain flattery. Flattery is usually just sweet talk, compliments are based on facts.

So what kind of compliment will make you smile all day!

  • Is it OK to sue someone for breaking your heart?

    Hiya Lovelies!

The story making rounds of a woman in Zimbwabwe who was disvirgined by a man who promised to marry her, but got her pregnant and left to be with another woman he shares a baby with is yet another story of heartbreak we are all so used to hearing.

But the crazy twist is…she is suing the man, who she claims is her fiancé, for $15,000!

    Hmmm!

Do you think she has a case?

And going deeper into this type of scenario, do you believe it is time for people (men and women) to sue their partners for breaking their hearts?

Would it reduce the number of irresponsible lovers out there?

Would it improve relationships and its commitments?

    What do you think?

  • 2015 to-do list: 3 things you should do!

Oh wow! How time flies! I know it’s the middle of May and it seems there’s no stopping the clock.

But hold on for one second… how far have you come in 2015?

I know you have a list of your own and plans for the rest of the year; but trust me, you should add these 3 to your bucket list!

There’s something exciting about striking out accomplished deeds from your to-do list, so let’s start that trend.

Here are 3 things you should add to your bucket list for 2015!

    1. Visit a state in Nigeria you have not been to!

I know you want to take another trip to Dubai or Zanzibar, but have you explored the richness of Nigeria yet? It’s sad that the intra-travel business is not booming, nonetheless I think when we need a break sometimes, all we really need is a trip to another state, enjoy the vast beauty of Nigeria and appreciate the multiplicity of what we have. So have you been to Abeokuta, Calabar…?

    2. Re-arrange your house:

Some of the emotional problems we carry are, sometimes, linked to things as irrelevant as, say, the layout of our office space or home. Change the position of your couch, add some bright fun colours to the walls in your living room, buy some new fresh bedspreads, add some CDs to your music compartment. These things, albeit small, can brighten your life, I tell you! Try it! Tweak the look of your office, or just as a positive stick-on to your computer! Little things, big results to your well-being!

    3. Learn a new fancy!

See? I didn’t call it trade, because that might sound too serious LOL! So, learn a new fancy!
Learn salsa, learn how to bake, learn how to apply makeup, learn public speaking, learn how to design fliers and websites.

It takes a minute to decide, but a lifetime of benefits.

So what else would you like on your 2015 to-do list?

  • How to enjoy a new week

Get into the new week with some funk in your strides!

Working Monday is halfway gone. What have you been able to achieve in the hours past? Maximising your week is the best way to enjoy the approaching weekend.

So here’s a few ways to make the best of a new week:

Draw up a schedule of what to do. Marry your thoughts with action. If you are going to be productive then you need a map towards that path. This makes it easy to approach your day and get things done properly and on time and the result? You feel great!

    thumbs up

Eat less. Food just always gets in the way of productivity. So drink a lot of water, but eat less. Do you feel that funny drowsing feeling anytime you have lunch at work? Not good, right? So reduce the size of meal you devour. Take fruits instead and drink lots of water, yes. No soda! Very important.

Get in touch with your warm side. Make a call that is totally unrelated to work and get into a cool conversation. Call a friend, call your mum or you significant other. Laugh, share a joke, hold a smile all day. It balances all the work.

So let’s make this week a productive one, yes? Yay!

  • #MakeMeFabulous: Building Families…Happy Homes

Family is the most important unit of living. A lot of angry, bitter, sociopathic people started their road to destruction from the home. This also applies to happy, kind, godly people.

Our personalities are first formed from our homes. That is why it is important to ensure the home is made to be a place where love can foster, where kindness is nurtured. That is the only way we can begin to build happy parents and confident children.

A violent, unsettled home would most likely breed its kind- children who are disturbed, unfulfilled, and destructive.

Think of one person you know that lives on the imbalance of rage and tension; his/her issues would most likely have started from the home, with parent who were not available to train him/her; guardians who were unnecessarily harsh; maids who were abusive etc.

    couple

The consequences of that is the delinquent you see…or just the imbalanced individual you work with.

    It all starts from family.

So I thought to myself, the best reality show Nigerians need is one that focuses on the family- the love unit.

Man and woman fall in love; promise to love each other for the rest of their lives, take the vow, build promises and dreams together; get married…

What then happens when they get into marriage? Why should the tempest of joy die so soon and leave one half of the unit feeling lost, unhappy and discontent?

That is where #MakeMeFabulous comes in. I want to connect the man to the woman and vice versa. Remember who you fell in love with. Create the right atmosphere for love to grow. And bring back the beauty of your home…let it shine through when you sit together and talk about the future.

The hustle of life is stealing the joy of the home.

But we can get it back. #MakeMeFabulous is all about putting back that spark in your marriage. So you can build a happy home, with children who- through the examples of the parents- in turn will build a better society.

    It’s a cycle.

I’m glad to be doing this.

So let’s make it a date on our TV screens on Sunday, May 24, at 7pm on DSTV’s Africa Magic Showcase, Channel 151.

  • My Movie ‘DRY’ wins Best Protagonist Award at the Bentonville Film Festival, USA!

    Hi SL Fabz!

I’m so excited to tell you that my new film “DRY” won an award at the Geena Davis and ARC Entertainment’s inaugural Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) in Arkansas, U.S. for “Best Protagonist”. Yay!!!

This came as a complete surprise. I am excited and honored that the Bentonville Film Festival picked my film for a screening, let alone an award. I am looking forward to this film touching the hearts of many more and helping people take action to save the child bride.

I am also hopeful that there will be more awards to come.

The Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) founded by Academy Award Winner Geena Davis and Trevor Drinkwater, was a star-studded event. Here's Geena Davis at the event.

I know you’re all itching to watch this movie, but don’t worry, it is scheduled for a summer release here in Nigeria! Meanwhile, here is the trailer:

  • Housekeeper arrives at work to clean a house that ends up becoming hers!!!

If you need something to encourage you to keep working harder and even more diligently, then you’ve come to the right place.

I’ve just had an interesting time watching this video of how a hardworking housekeeper and single mother of three was rewarded with a new house! She thought she was resuming work at a new house and as soon as she got in, she started getting surprise after surprise. The icing on the cake was when the host of the show came in with some of her personal stuff, saying it was for the ‘owner’ of the house. The obviously confused Cara said she wasn’t the owner of the house, until her children showed up and he announced that the house was actually hers! She even got another surprise too.

Cara devoted all her time to her job and her family and #PrankitFWD gave her a big a break…. Amazing!!

This made me smile and cry at the same time. It will make your day.

  • Happy Mother’s Day 2015

A mother’s love is a wonderful love packaged from heaven with special care.
A mother’s love is like no other love in which you can compare.
A mother’s love is purified by Angels and flows directly from her soul.
A mother’s love is justified by God and by his hands he created the mold.
This mold that was shaped and fashioned by God has endured the test of time.
This mold that was taped and recorded by women rang out like a heavenly chime.
A mother’s love is unconditional, and from her heart this can be told.
A mother’s love is nutritional; it is the fruit that feeds our soul.
A mother’s love ‘IS’ true love, and from her heart she cannot lie.
A mother’s love is eternal, the kind that wont’ ever die.
A mother’s love is the tie that binds, and her bond can never be broken.
A mother’s love is branded in our hearts, even when her words aren’t spoken…

    – by Leotha Brown

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful moms reading this. You are truly special.

How would you describe a mother’s love?
