It’s made of pure leather and proudly made in Nigeria. I totally love the chain shoulder strap. Depending on the outfit you’re wearing, this is a bag that can be both formal or semi-formal. Believe me, the leather is everything!

You can check out more of these bags HERE. Thank me later *wink*

  • Who I Will ALWAYS Respect and Who I Will NEVER Respect

I will always respect the person who says, “I believe I am right. And you may also be right.”

I will never respect the person who says, “I am always right. And you are definitely wrong.”

I will always respect the person who says, “I know something, but I admit that what I know could be wrong.”

I will never respect the person who says, “I know one thing: and it is the only possibility.”

I will always respect the person who says, “there is more than one right way to do almost everything.”

I will never respect the person who says, “my way is always the right way.”

I will always respect the person who says, “how I measure my own intelligence is vastly different than how I should measure the intelligence of every other person.”

I will never respect the person who says, “I am more intelligent that everyone else.”

SL Fabz, what kind of person would you always respect and what kind of person would you never respect?

  • A Lady And Her Manicure

There is this perception by most people that women who keep well manicured nails (mostly artificial), don’t do any kind of domestic work.

A friend of mine brought this topic up again recently. According to her, her younger sister went to visit her future mother-in-law and when the elderly woman saw the young lady’s nails, she promptly told her in a not-too-kind manner that she wants her son to have a wife who won’t give her nails as an excuse for not cooking. The elderly woman said to her “Won’t you spend all my son’s money on fast food with nails like that?

The irony of this situation is that the elderly woman couldn’t be more far from the truth. The lady in question is a very good cook, infact, someone you would call a ‘foodie’. She is so good and passionate about cooking that she runs a food blog where she dishes lovely recipes to her readers regularly. She spends more time in the kitchen than the average woman. But her nails made her mother-in-law to be judge her differently.

So, I ask, do you look at a woman’s nails and immediately come to a conclusion on the kind of person she is? Should this be so?

    Let’s discuss!

  • What Does Your Name Mean?

I know you know my name, but do you know what my name means?

According to wikipedia, Stephanie is a female name that comes from the Greek name (Stefanos) meaning “Crown.” In French the meaning of the name Stephanie is: Crowned in victory. So, yeah, you can call me a queen too… lol!

Today, I had an interesting time doing a research on other renowned people that bear/bore the same name as me. I came up with this list:

Saint Stephanie – virgin and martyr in Amalfi, Italy, honoured September 18
Stephanie Beacham (born 1947)- British actress

Stepahine Beard (born 1980) – Canadian actress, voice actress and radio personality
Stephanie Cole (born 1941) British actress
Stephanie J.Block – American actress and singer.

There are also an interesting number of songs about Stephanie 🙂

A Long Way Down From Stephanie – Al Stewart
    Stephanie – Buckingham/Nicks
    Stephanie – The Syrens
Stephanie Knows Who – Love iTunes
Stephanie Says – The Velvet Underground – iTunes
Stephanie’s Room – Joan Baez iTunes

So now you know my name, tell me yours. What is the meaning of your name and which interesting person(s) do you share a name with?

  • Read This Before You Sleep Tonight

So what do you do at night before you sleep? Do you watch television? Do you surf the web and this is how you found this blog? Or do you spend quality time with your family?

What about successful people? What do they do at night before they sleep? I found an article on 10 things most successful people do at night before sleeping on LifeHack and thought it would be great to share it with you. These are the 6 points that stood out to me.  Try doing at least one of these things tonight:

    1. Read books
Many successful people in the world are voracious readers. They read and they learn from what others talk about. Do you know that reading and learning can shortcut your journey to success? In fact, many great people including Bill Gates, read books or articles until they feel tired and then go to bed after.

    2. Spend quality time with family and friends
Yep, success starts from within. You have to spend quality time with your family and friends in order to get connected and stay connected.

    3. Plan and get ready for the next day
This is one of the most important things you can do before you sleep. Planning for tomorrow, writing down what you need to do and get ready for the next day to come. For instance, most people will iron their clothes and get all the relevant documents that they need to use for the next day ready before they sleep. You should do the same.

    4. Meditation
Another great thing you may want to practice at night. Meditation is good for both your mental health and physical health. Meditation works as a recharge for your energy and get you focus in what you want. You feel deeply relaxed after the hustle and bustle of the day. Now it is time for you to stay relax for both your mind and your body.

    5. Envision tomorrow
One of the best ways to get ready for what’s coming is to envision it. Just like how visualization works, when you think about your perfect days, you will be more prepared and have the confidence to go through everything that comes along.

    6. Write down accomplishments for the day
What have you accomplished during the day? Some people will say none because they don’t think they are productive on the day.

When you feel grateful that you have proper lunch, proper dinner and able to get home safely and able to spend great moments with your family, you will feel deep joy within. On the other hand, if you don’t feel thankful for all that you have, you will feel stressed, pressured and insufficient. You will have the feeling of “not enough” even if you already have everything.

I’d like to add mine to the list. Don’t forget to PRAY!

So, have you done any of these already or do you plan to do one of them before going to bed tonight?

Have a great night SL Fabz and do visit stephaniedaily.com again tomorrow.

  • Matching Pattern And Prints

There were times, when mixing pattern and prints was a “fashion taboo” but now, it is a fashion trend being embraced by most ladies. Mixing prints and patterns is a bold and fashionable way to play with your wardrobe. It allows you to create outfit combinations you probably never would have imagined look good together.

Definitely, there are rules that guide this game, as not every pattern/print mix is acceptable. Also, mixing can go terribly wrong, so it’s important to keep a few helpful tips in mind…

    1. Match colours not print: if the colours go well together, the patterns would most likely go well together.
    2. The simpler and more graphic the prints are, the easier they are to match. For example: black and white stripes go with most things; the same applies to gingham prints and hounds tooth. They are easier to mix with floral and animal prints.
    3. You could always include a neutral to calm your outfit down, if you think it looks too busy. Just like I did with my yellow blazer in the pic above. This draws some attention away from the busy outfit.

Do you have any other tips for mixing patterns and prints? Do share.

    Stay glam and fab!

  • Should A Man Cook & Clean When He Has A Wife?

Growing up in a typical African home, I learnt that some chores are meant for the girls and women while others are meant for the men.

But as I grew older, I began to notice a reversal of roles. Some call it western influence, some call it development, while others would call it pure madness.

We find in some homes these days that the woman is the bread winner. In others, men help their wives out in the kitchen to wash and clean. Lots of women are great drivers; while lots of men are excellent cooks and hairdressers… I could go on and on about different things men and women weren’t doing before, but do now.

However, today, I’d like us to focus on the kitchen and domestic work. Is it ‘proper’ for a man to do the dishes and cook at home regularly? Remember, the emphasis is on regularly, I don’t mean just helping his wife out once in a while. If a man loves to cook and clean, should he stop doing it simply because he is married and now has a wife?

    Let’s discuss!

  • Yay!!! Senate Passes the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Bill

I am so so glad today. I just read the cheering news that the Senate has passed the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Bill, which seeks to prohibit female circumcision, forceful ejection from home and harmful widowhood practices.

I’ve been a part of of advocacy and projects that educate women and girls against cultural practices such as female circumcision and I’m so happy those actions are finally yielding results! This is a step in the right direction and is so dear to my heart.

The bill, when signed to law by the President, would also help eliminate violence in private and public life, provide maximum protection, effective remedies for victims of violence and punishment of offenders.

The bill also prohibits abandonment of spouse, children and other dependents without sustenance as well as forbids battery and harmful traditional practices.

It equally prohibits economic abuse, forced isolation and separation from family and friends, substance attack, depriving persons of their liberty, incest, indecent exposure, among others.

I can’t wait to see this bill passed into law and for all Nigerians to enjoy a violence-free life. Let’s continue to raise our voices against such violent practices and protect children around us.

  • Happiness Is A Choice

“Every day we have plenty of opportunities to get angry, stressed or offended. But what you’re doing when you indulge these negative emotions is giving something outside yourself power over your happiness. You can choose to not let little things upset you.” – Joel Osteen

Yesterday, I saw two men fighting on the street. It seemed they had both been queuing to buy fuel outside a petrol station and when the gate opened, they both tried to drive in a rush at the same time and their cars ended up with significant damage.

Yes, there are so many things around you that can make you angry if not properly managed. A lot of people have sad tales to tell about the direct effect of the fuel scarcity going on in most parts of Nigeria right now. Some people are frustrated at work, at peopl,e at situations, and such frustration can lead to anger if not properly managed. But if we make a conscious effort not to let little things upset us, it usually gets better for us and everyone around us.

Happiness is a choice.  For every minute you are angry or irritated, you lose 60 seconds of happiness.  Be happy.  Be yourself.  If others don’t like it, then let them be.  Life isn’t about pleasing everybody.

I hope you make a choice to stay positive minded and happy rather than angry today.

    SL
