  • Ebola Alert! US State Department

The U S State Department has assembled this list of bullet points worded in plain language for easy comprehension on the Ebola virus. Please READ and be aware:

    • The suspected reservoirs for Ebola are fruit bats.

    • Transmission to humans is thought to originate from infected bats or primates that have become infected by bats.

    • Undercooked infected bat and primate (bush) meat transmits the virus to humans.

    • Human to human transmission is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill from the Ebola virus or their body fluids. Continue…

    • Transmission among humans is almost exclusively among caregiver family members or health care workers tending to the very ill.

    • The virus is easily killed by contact with soap, bleach, sunlight, or drying. A washing machine will kill the virus in clothing saturated with infected body fluids.

    • A person can incubate the virus without symptoms for 2-21 days, the average being 5-8 days before becoming ill. THEY ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS until they are acutely ill.

    • Only when ill does the viral load express itself first in the blood and then in other bodily fluids (to include vomit, faeces, urine, breast milk, semen and sweat).

    • If you are walking around you are not infectious to others.

    • There are documented cases from Kikwit, DRC of an Ebola outbreak in a village that had the custom of children never touching an ill adult. Children living for days in small one room huts with parents who died from Ebola did not become infected.

    • You cannot contract Ebola by handling money, buying local bread or swimming in a pool.

    • There is no medical reason to stop flights, close borders, restrict travel or close embassies, businesses or schools.

    • As always practice good hand washing techniques, but you will not contract Ebola if you do not touch a dying person.

  • Who do you think you are?

    Who are YOU?

Who do people say you are?

How would your boss describe you?

What do your parents say about you?

    What about friends? Or acquaintances?

All of these matters, yes. But I would like to know…

Who do you think you are?

    Describe yourself in one WORD.

    Let’s hear it!

  • What the Pope said…

It’s a new week and I would like to share something I read that could help make your week and the rest of your life blissful!

Pope Francis shared his own guide to happiness. It is so inspiring.

May we all attain happiness! These words will guide you:

    1. “Live and let live.” Which has a similar expression in Rome with the saying, “Move forward and let others do the same.”

    2. “Be giving of yourself to others.” People need to be open and generous toward others, he said, because “if you withdraw into yourself, you run the risk of becoming egocentric. And stagnant water becomes putrid.”

    3. “Proceed calmly” in life.

    4. Have a healthy sense of leisure. He said parents should set aside time to play with their children and turn of the TV when they sit down to eat.

    5. “Sundays is for family,” he says. That means rest is essential to happiness.

    6. Find innovative ways to create dignified jobs for young people. “We need to be creative with young people. If they have no opportunities they will get into drugs” and be more vulnerable to suicide, he said.

    7. Respect and take care of nature. Environmental degradation “is one of the biggest challenges we have,” he said. “I think a question that we’re not asking ourselves is: ‘Isn’t humanity committing suicide with this indiscriminate and tyrannical use of nature?’”

    8. Stop being negative. “Needing to talk badly about others indicates low self-esteem. That means, ‘I feel so low that instead of picking myself up I have to cut others down,’” the Pope said. “Letting go of negative things quickly is healthy.”

    9. Don’t proselytise; respect others’ beliefs. “We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyses: ‘I am talking with you in order to persuade you,’ No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytising,” the Pope said.

    10. Work for peace. “We are living in a time of many wars,” he said, and “the call for peace must be shouted. Peace sometimes gives the impression of being quiet, but it is never quiet, peace is always proactive” and dynamic.

Lovely! Have a great week, all!

  • #TalktoSteph: He insults me!

Hello everyone! Let’s help Suze solve this issue…

    Dear Stephanie,

I need your advice. I am engaged and to be married to my fiancé this December. It is a dream come true except that he is verbally abusive. When he is angry (and it takes very little to get him angry), he begins to insult me and says terrible things about me. Later on, he will apologise but the words never go away. It worries me that he says such hurtful things. He will call me “ugly” “good for nothing” “stupid, foolish” calls me a “harlot” and even “bad luck”.

I have spoken to my mother and she says he will change. I am fearful of building a life with a man who finds it easy to open his mouth and curse me.

I have tried to talk to him; he apologises but the next minute when he is upset he will start all over again.

    I am getting resentful.

    What should I do?

    –        Suze

Improve skin texture: exfoliating your skin is an easy way to revive dry, dull skin! There’s a magic feel to it afterwards.

Rids dead cells: exfoliation will get rid of any dead skin cells that can potentially clog up your razor blades and will give you a smooth, clean shave!

Fight signs of aging: Help your skin age even more gracefully by exfoliating regularly and shedding those dead skin cells!

Help prevent breakouts: you can keep acne under control by keeping pores clean and clear when you exfoliate.

Evens out skin tone: Another one of the skin benefits of exfoliating is that it can help remove leftover dirt and makeup as well as layers of dead skin to reveal bright, new skin that’s hiding underneath.
