  • Throwback Thursday: Excerpts From My ThisDay Style Photoshoot & Interview

Oh well… not so Throwback cos its still less than a week 🙂

I’ve been getting so many wonderful messages and feedback about the ThisDay Style Cover which I shared with my husband on Sunday and I just want to say a big THANK YOU!!! You’ve been too kind with your warm wishes and I am so overwhelmed and so grateful.

I know I should have shared these photos with my blog readers earlier *covers face*. I hope you forgive me for bringing it late. Perhaps, these excerpts from our interview, for those who didn’t get to read the paper, will make you less upset. We spoke about how we met, our marriage and much more…

    Linus

    On how we met
I met Stephanie while doing some Business Consulting work for a Middle Eastern Company that wanted to berth in Africa; they needed an African female celebrity ambassador for their brand; Liya Kebede from Ethiopia and Stephanie were the two candidates on tab for the role; so I reached out to her; So yeah…it was “Love for Business at First Sight”.

On how he copes with being married to a Superstar actress
Being married to her is an ever glowing experience; a tale I some day, would write a book about; Stephanie is an absolute blessing! A loving, selfless, patient, positive being; someone I have made my lifelong pursuit to make her truly happy because her heart is in the right place. It is one thing to say you believe in someone; it’s another to live it. We are friends, lovers, husband and wife.

    On social media pressure
Pressure from fans and the likes comes with the territory; it’s even worse now with the advent of new social media, if it’s not PINGS, it’s Instagram likes, if it’s not that, it’s Facebook beeps, Twitter alerts or Linkedin invites. But it’s a world I understand, so for us, communication is key and that is what defines the boundaries of our relationship.

Linus describes me in 3 words
    Selfless, Smart and Spirited

    Stephanie

On what endeared me to my husband
He had a magnetic presence that was very captivating. He didn’t beat around the bush, he knew exactly what he wanted and was upfront about it, which I found charming and sexy!

    Why he’s the one!
He is very tender and protective, a man’s man. He is sweet, humble, driven, has a close relationship with God, very loving and takes good care of me. We respect what we have and as a woman, when a man loves you, you just know. You know that you’re in it together, regardless of any situation. With him, there was a conviction in my heart that this is it.

  • 5 Positive Thoughts To Think Everyday

We spend hours and hours dwelling and ruminating on the negative and fearful things in our lives. We worry about what could go wrong, instead of focusing and paying attention to the rational, the positive and the good. We should train ourselves to focus on thoughts that will move us forward in the right direction.

Here are some things we should occupy our minds with everyday:

    1. I AM GOOD AT EVERYTHING THAT I DO
Nobody is perfect, but you ARE perfect when you give your all and try your hardest to be your best self. By telling yourself that you are good at everything you do, you will slowly begin to realize just how special you are. You will also give birth to this beautiful voice inside your head that will encourage you along the way and help you feel unstoppable, no matter what life throws at you.

    2. TODAY IS AN AWESOME DAY
Set the intention as soon as you wake up that today will be an awesome day! Things can go wrong or maybe not go as you planned for them to go, but by saying to yourself throughout the day that today is an awesome day, you will begin attracting awesome things to come your way. Don’t just say it… believe it!

    3. I CAN HANDLE MORE THAN I THINK I CAN
This is a powerful affirmation. Empower and uplift your spirits throughout the day by thinking and believing that you can handle anything that you set your mind too. You can handle more than you think you can. If you’ve come this far, go farther.

    4. I WILL SEE THE GOOD IN EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE
Being in a mental state of thanksgiving will help brighten any rainy day. Rather than scolding the driver who cut you off on your way to work, see that he was probably in a rush too. Rather than feeling bitter towards your friend who started flirting with your crush, see the good that maybe the guy is all wrong for you and it’s better that you don’t pursue him. It’s really tough to see things “glass half full” but just try it and see what happens.

    5. NO MATTER WHAT, I LOVE MYSELF
Above all, tell yourself how much you love you. Even if everyone to your left and everyone to your right is against you, you will only be able to make it through the storm and see the rainbow on the other side if you love yourself above everything else. When someone has self-love, that someone is unstoppable.

Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

    Happy positive thinking!

  • …About The Holy Pilgrimage

It’s that time of the year again when many Christians from all over the world gather at Israel. Sure, lots of Nigerians are there too and I just want to use this opportunity to send a shout out to everyone who is embarking on this year’s Holy Pilgrimage.

The significance of the Pilgrimage varies to different people, but for most, it is a tool for moral and spiritual rejuvenation and an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Bible. It is a personal and deeply spiritual experience, and it must be really awesome to walk in the very places that Jesus, his disciples and lots of other great people mentioned in the Bible walked.

I hope to go someday, and I join my faith with those who are praying for Nigeria far away in Israel. May our prayers be answered.

Have you ever been on a Holy Pilgrimage? Please share your experiences.

Also wishing you all a fab week ahead!

    xoxo

  • #SundayFunDay

I’ve been looking forward to Sunday all week and now that it’s here, I just wanna scream!

How has your week been SL Fabz? For me, it’s been quite hectic and I’m looking forward to just relaxing and enjoying every bit of my day, just like the slogan – “Sunday Fun Day“.

Its a bit rainy here in Lagos and I know this could be a bother, but don’t let it dampen your day. There are lots of activities you could do indoors and still have fun doing such as games or having a lunch party with friends. For me, I’m in the mood for some cooking and a nice time in front of the TV with some movies.

What about you? What are you doing to make your Sunday a Fun Day? I’d love to know.

Let’s focus on the positive things in our life everyday. Here’s a big kiss from me to you!

    xoxo

  • What Would You Do If…

Tomorrow, you wake up as the opposite sex. What is the first thing you would do?

  • Did You Observe The #HornFreeDay in Lagos?

    Hi SL Fabz,

For the past few weeks, I’ve been hearing the buzz mostly on radio about the Horn Free Day initiated by the Lagos state government. Apparently, October 15th was supposed to be a day where motorists desist from using their car horns. The initiative was a step towards sensitizing residents to the harmful effects of noise pollution.

Although I made a quick trip out of the state yesterday morning, I still did hear A LOT of car horns on my way to the Airport. So today, I’m curious about how the day went and I’d like my dear SL Fabz to fill me in.

Did you observe the Horn Free Day directive? Did drivers around you observe it? Was it truly a Horn Free Day in Lagos?

  • I’m So Proud Of Malala Yousafzai – Nobel Peace Prize Winner

    I feel especially happy today!

Just found out that 17 year-old Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize or her efforts in the education of girls and women.

Her story is very exceptional. Her’s has been a heroic struggle.

Exactly two years and a day ago, Taliban gunmen shot her in the head for daring to speak up for the rights of a girl to get an education. She fought for her life and thankfully, she was fully recovered from the gun shot. She received global attention after she was shot in the head by the Taliban and had to relocate from her home country Pakistan to the UK. Since then, after recovering from surgery, she has taken her campaign to the world stage, notably with a speech last year at the United Nations.

The threat on her life is an experience that would have pushed most people to give up on their struggles, but instead, she intensified her voice and has touched the lives of girls and women around the world. And she is just 17! This makes her the youngest ever winner of the Nobel Prize and also the first Pakistani to win the prize.

She shares the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize with 60 year-old Indian child rights campaigner Kailash Satyarthi.

I am so proud of her and say a big congratulations!
