  • Stephanie’s Poll: Is Age Really Just A Number?

    age is just a number

    STEPHANIE’S POLL

Hi dearies, it’s time for our Q’s and A’s, I ask and you answer. The question for this week is:

Would you cancel your wedding if you find out some weeks before that your spouse has been lying about his or her age? For instance, if your wife to be is actually 5 years older than she says she is or if your husband is 5 years younger than he says he is.

Is age really a determining factor in love and marriage? I’d like to know what you think.

    Please share your thoughts

  • Staying Fit in our Busy World

    Stephanie Daily Pics - December 2013 - StephanieDaily009

    Hello lovely people!

Its the last month of the year and I know that like me, many of us set out some goals we wanted to achieve with regards to our weight and fitness at the beginning of the year. But with the demands of our busy schedules, especially when you live in a bustling city like Lagos, you might have had a difficult time achieving those goals.

Not to worry, its not too late to boost our spirits and get back to our routines. Here are some ways that you can juggle exercising with your busy work schedule:

    1. Wake up in the morning to exercise
Waking up an hour earlier to exercise in the morning helps you function better during the day. It gives you a better cardiovascular impact, you’re able to have more consistent workouts and more energy throughout the day.

    2. Walk/Ride your bike to work
I know this may be difficult in most cities and also if you live far from work. But if you can, take a walk or ride your bike to work. It really helps.

    3. Work out during your lunch break
Most people have at least a half hour break during work. That is enough time to squeeze in a short workout. You can take a walk outside, or walk around your building or street.

    4. Use exercising as a way to socialize
Instead of going out to eat, go for a walk or short run with your friends and catch up while you are at it.

    5. Make a commitment
I know it might be difficult, believe me I do, but physical activity is SO important to our lives. Take some time to re-evaluate where you are spending unnecessary time and focus on doing those important things for your health and fitness.

So, share with me, how do you find time to work out despite your busy schedules? Have you achieved the fitness and health goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year? I’d love to know.

  • ‘Flood With Love’ Campaign

Great news people! Some of Nigeria’s richest people have come together to help flood victims in the country. A committee which includes billionaires Alhaji Aliko Dangote as the Chairman, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija as co-Chairman, Tony Elumelu and other philanthropists has been formed and they have so far raised over N7 billion for victims of the flood. Now they are asking other Nigerians to join them to rebuild the flood devastated areas. A lot of people affected are still homeless.

Based on this they are about to launch a Flood Relief Campaign with 30 Nigerian celebrities from each sector; Nollywood , Music, Arts, Radio, CEO’s etc. I was one of them and here is my campaign shot.

The smashing campaign is being shot currently and will be launched soon. Please join the cause. Let’s help rebuild the affected areas. (culled Linda Ikeji)

  • Pucker up…

Black LipsCheck out these 5 tips to keep your lips looking good and healthy

    1. Drink Up

Drink at least 8 cups of water daily to keep your body, skin, and lips hydrated.

    2. No Tongue licking

Saliva contains digestive enzymes that can break down lips’ protective barrier and dry them out. Resist the temptation to lick them.

    3. Balm on

Look for hydrating ingredients such as beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E, and almond, jojoba, or coconut oils in lip balms. Good old petroleum jelly works well too.

    4. Scrub It

Just like face and body exfoliators, ones for your lips that contain fruit-acid-based alpha or beta hydroxy acids slough of dead skin. But if you have sensitive skin or your lips are severely chapped or cracked, use these products not more than once weekly, as they can irritate skin and cause stinging or persistent redness.

    5. Switch Up Your Lipsticks

One reason matte lipsticks stay put for so long is that they are drying—so if your lips are extremely chapped, use them sparingly.

    Hope this helps

  • Glamour Chick

Hello Dearies! We’ve talked about fashion, now it’s time to talk glamour. Some women make a huge mistake when they think fashion is just about your cloths and bags, that is a big NO NO, being fashionable is about what you wear, ranging from your hair to your make up to perfume, to your manicure even to your skin, darling if you wear the most expensive cloths and your skin is bad, you’d look shabby no matter what, but basic cloths with great skin, good; close to perfect, perfectly tailored clothes to great skin to lovely hairdo to well manicured nails? Perfecto!

HAIR: first things first, your hair! There is a saying that goes your hair is your crowning glory and I am sure most of us will agree, your hair can make you look fab or drab, you can be all dressed up in your designer wears e.g. Gucci, Prada, Jewel by Lisa etc. but if you have bad hair? Hmm hmmm, it all counts for nothing. Research shows that men like women with long hair and for those of us “African women” whose natural heritage does not allow us straight, extra long hair or who are not bold enough or just not willing to rock their natural hair, we usually put a weave in {don’t get me wrong, if you have long hair, even a short one, you can go natural, as long as you are comfortable, but make sure it is nicely styled always} Gone are the days when you buy a weave and carry it for two weeks just the way it is, things have evolved, so ladies, now is the time to invest in good hair, it is true looking good takes a lot effort and time, but when you see the look on your man’s face when you are done, you find out it is totally worth it. Bring out your hot iron and straighten your hair or put in some rollers and go curly.

Like I said earlier, men like varieties, don’t be a boring girlfriend or wife, be spontaneous, fresh and always look new. Do not forget, keeping your hair clean and tangle free is important, don’t clog your bathtub with your hair, men hate it when your hair is all over the place, if you want to use a weave, use it well. Hairspray is big, go get yourself one with a fruity fragrance, so when he tries to steal a quick embrace, the fruity aroma that passes through his nostrils will make him linger for a kiss.

MAKE UP: when I say dress to suit the occasion, that also applies to your make up, bearing in mind your complexion to the shape of your mouth even to the color of your eyes, everything matters, so choose products that work best for you and stick to it. Most men love their women natural, so don’t let your make up define your face, let it enhance it, after a whole week of concealers, foundations, lip sticks etc. play it cool during the weekend, especially when you are at home, after moisturizing your face, get a brush or powder puff, then swirl over a glimmering powder, just as you dab a clear gloss on your lips, you will look natural and glow at the same time.

Natural make-up on brown skin!! Love it!!

NAILS: So ladies! Now to your manicure, there is no bigger turn off than ugly nails that are unkempt, as much as I don’t have anything against fixing artificial nails, natural nails are my no 1. Option, some ladies complain of not having beautiful nails and thereby cover it up with artificial ones- no offense to the ladies who use artificial ones, instead of spending so much on artificial nails, take time to groom your natural ones. 1) Make sure your nails are always clean 2) The tip of the nails are the most fragile part which breaks easily, it is therefore this part which must be strengthened , apply a nail lotion called Marvala Scientifique, it hardens the nail plate by bonding the three layers into one, it immediately penetrates and helps soft, splitting, breaking nails to regain their healthy aspect and strength. Treat yourself to a perfect nail polish, your colored nails have a way of revving up your shoes, they make you look classy and modern, your hands says everything, especially at a party- so don’t let the opportunity of showing off pass you by, dark polish is the fashion for short nails, besides it makes them look extraordinarily groomed and if you want to pass a message that says you are a randy, lively, kind of chick, bright colors are your thing and for those of us who don’t have the time to visit a salon regularly, splash on a colorless polish, after you file your nails to your taste, it will give it a shine until you are ready to treat yourself. So there it is your key to perfect nails. So ladies, now is the time to take a vacation from those plastic nails, let your nails breathe, pamper those babies for once because after suffocating them , putting harmful substance on them coupled with the fact that you sometimes peel part of your nail out when you remove the fake ones, lord knows they need a break.

How To Choose The Best Nail Shape For You

PERFUMES: Men particularly love it when their wives or girlfriends have a particular scent, it drives them crazy; your perfume is another effective way of making your man miss you more when you are away, maybe on a business trip or just for pleasure, from the sheets to your used laundry, your scent will remind him of you. Sensual fragrance takes center stage, think sexy aromas like vanilla, amber, apple and peaches, hmmmmmm! Ooh la la and oh so chic. I said something earlier about how men love it when their women have a particular scent, note the word particular! Don’t change your perfumes as soon as the first bottle is finished, only change your perfume when absolutely necessary i.e. minimum of 6 months.

How important are perfumes to your style?

SKIN: I am not one for unnecessary sermon, as ladies, we know the key to a perfect skin is exfoliating, cleansing, toning and moisturizing, so do just that! When your skin feels brittle and hard, it’s a big turnoff, when a man holds a woman, he expects her to be feel soft and soothing. So ladies! Take extra care of your skin, so when he holds you close to him, he’d want to eat you raw. That’s it SL FABZ, get your fierce on this month and months to come, mwah!
