Firstly have you prayed about this relationship to find out if its the will of God concerning you, if you have and sure that he is the right man for you. My dear, i feel your pain after four years and still the mother never seems to like u. She need to sit down and have a conversation with her boyfriend mother to find out what going on. Mothers are always protective of their sons and sometime the woman in their son lives become a threat to them. I have encounter a similar problem like this before, and the way I solve the problem was to have a girls out day with me and his mom, by doing this is gives her a better chance to know me better and also a chance for me to hear her concern. My candid advice to the lady is that if she is certain that her boyfriend’s mum’s position about her relationship with the son is affecting her boyfriend not proposing to her then she should know that the boyfriend is not in love with her to the extent that he can make a decision that will override the guy’s loyalty to his mother.
