DRY Wins Big at the BON Awards 2015
Happy new week SL Fabz!

It’s great to begin the new week with some good news. Yesterday was the BON Awards which took place in Akure and I’m so glad that DRY picked up some awards at the event. Whoop! Whoop!!

Out of the 12 categories we were nominated for, DRY carted away 4 awards. The are:
- Movie with the best social message – DRY
- Best Cinematography – DRY
- Best Screenplay – DRY
- Best Child Actress – Zubaidat Ibrahim Fagge
It’s such a joy to get this sort of recognition and I’m very grateful to God and everyone who has been a part of the team. I’m also grateful to you and all my fans for your votes, support and prayers.

I’m optimistic that there is still more great news to come for us all before the end of this year! Many thanks to the BON Awards team for this recognition.

DRY Picks Up 9 Nominations for the AMVCA 2016

Wow! Another awesome recognition for DRY!

I’m so happy about this and grateful to God who has brought us thus far.

DRY has been nominated in 9 categories for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2016. This is an annual accolade presented by Multichoice recognizing outstanding achievement in television and film, voted on by the general public.

DRY Partner Private Screening & Premiere at Lancaster University, UK This Weekend!

DRY is coming to the UK again!

Hey SL Fabz, the UK is going to witness another Private Screening & Premiere of my latest movie, DRY and I’m so excited about this. This event is being put together by Lancaster University and Envirofly Consulting UK Limited in partnership with Next Page Productions.

I’m very grateful to everyone who has contributed in no little way to the success of this film and its promotion. I’m very optimistic about the success of this event and encourage you to be a part of it if you can.

DRY Gets 12 Nominations for the BON Awards 2015

I’m so glad and grateful for the string of nominations, recognition and awards DRY has received so far. It is very heartwarming to hear of them all.

Recently, the movie DRY and some of the cast members including my humble self were nominated in another prestigious award. This time, its the Best Of Nollywood Awards 2015.

Great News! DRY Will Be Screened At The Africa In Motion Film Festival in Scotland

Hi Lovelies!

So who is in Scotland? I bet a few of you are!

It’s time to make it over to the Africa In Motion Film Festival where the movie DRY will be showing. The festival starts tomorrow in two cities: Glasgow and Edinburgh.

DRY will be showing in Glasgow on Sunday 1st November at The Corinthian Club by 6pm. Save the date!

Stephanie Okereke-Linus’s first feature film Dry travels between rural life in Wales and Nigeria, looking at two parallel female narratives, a child and a woman both dealing with similar childhood memories and horrors. Both woman and child instantly have a strong bond that binds them together. Okereke-Linus’s intriguing film works with two strong female narratives, addressing various female issues that apply to young girls and women from around the world. With a stellar cast including its director Okereke-Linus herself playing the film’s female lead Dr. Zara, Dry deals with rejection, isolation and reconciliation.

This screening will be followed by a Q&A with a representative of the film.

About The Festival
Africa in Motion is an audience-based festival, founded in 2006 by African film researcher Lizelle Bisschoff. The main aims of the festival have been, since its inception, to introduce Scottish audiences to the brilliance of African cinema and to overcome the under-representation and marginalisation of African film in British film-going culture.

DRY Is Coming To The USA! Screening at the St Louis International Film Festival this November

Great news! DRY will be screened at the 24th Annual Whitaker St Louis International Film Festival this November.

Following successful screenings at the Bentonville Film Festival in USA, as well as the Montreal International Black Film Festival, Canada, we will once again be featured at another major international film festival.

The festival would take place from November 5th to 15th. However, DRY will be showing on Friday 6th November and Monday 9th November.

Screening Times:

Monday, Nov. 9, 4:15 p.m., Plaza Frontenac

Cool Stuff! DRY Gets 8 Nominations for the ZAFAA Global Awards 2015

Hey guys!

I trust you are doing good today.

I’m so glad to share this news with you. DRY has gotten 8 Nominations for the ZAFAA Global Awards 2015!!!

What makes me really happy about these nominations is that its not just about me or the movie itself, but two great actors who also got some awesome nominations. Budding child actor Zubaida Ibrahim Fagge who made her debut in acting in DRY got a nomination for the Best Child Performance while the talented Rekiya Attah was nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actor (Female).

I’m so proud of them and everyone who has worked with me on this movie. Here are the nominations we received for the upcoming awards:

Great News Canada! DRY Will Be Showing at the Montreal Black Film Festival This September!

Ever since I conceived the idea of making a world class movie about Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) and other issues faced by child brides, I dreamed that this movie would be shown in different cinemas, theaters and locations across the world. I’m so glad that dream is finally coming true.

After a private screening in Wales -UK, a screening at the Bentonville Film Festival in USA, two premieres and nationwide cinema release in Nigeria, DRY will be showing in Montreal, Canada this September!

The location is the Montreal International Black Film Festival, a dynamic, innovative and audacious festival whose ambition is to promote the development of the independent film industry and to showcase more films on the realities of Blacks from around the world.

The festival would take place from September 29th to October 4th. However, DRY will be showing on Wednesday 30th September 2015. For more information, please CLICK HERE

So, to everyone living in Canada or who will be in Canada during this period, do come out and watch this film. I want as many people around the world as possible to understand the plight faced by girls and women with VVF. This way, more and more people can demand feasible solutions, policies and practices that protects the girl child.

Throwback Thursday: Photos from the Abuja Premiere of DRY

Last month, my team and I hosted some guests to the Abuja premiere of DRY. The guests comprised of people who have supported the movie and believe in its cause, movie enthusiasts, journalists and much more.

I sincerely apologize for bringing you photos from the event so late *covers face*.

Dignitaries and guests who attended included World Bank’s Vice President & Treasurer Arunma Oteh OON; Senator Ben Murray Bruce; the Kenyan Ambassador to Nigeria Thomas Amolo; USAID’s Acting Mission Director Matt Burton; Program Officer, Advancing Public Service Media (West Africa) of Ford Foundation Paul Nwulu; Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health Dr Linus Awute represented by the Director/Head of Department of Family Health Mr Wapada Balami & Country Project Manager Engender Health/USAID Fistula Care Plus Project in Nigeria, Dr Habib Sadauki.

Also present were Charly Boy, Charles Novia and some cast members of DRY including Zubaida Ibrahim Fagge, Hauwa Maina, Paul Sambo, Anna Tanko as well as representatives from the World Bank and AIR Peace. The event took place on Thursday 13th August at the Silverbird Cinema.

I’m very grateful to everyone who showed up for the event and who lent their support in one way or the other. Your kindness is well appreciated.

DRY: Your Words, Your Tweets… What they mean to me.

A Twitter user who goes by the username @siendoAmor recently tweeted the photo above at me. This was a picture she took of the screen at the cinema where she went to watch DRY along with four of her friends on a Friday Night. In her tweet, she said the movie was ‘Educative’. I do not only appreciate her kind words, but the photo especially.

Since DRY was released in the nationwide cinemas last month, I’ve been overwhelmed by the number of responses I’ve gotten from fans on social media, and believe me, everyone of them has been encouraging.
