The news of Cynthia Akuzogwu Udoka’s death has left a wave of shock, distrust, pain and cry for justice. I cannot begin to imagine what her family will be going through at this time. It is every parent’s nightmare! The 25 year-old was killed by two university students who lured her to Lagos, paid her flight, lodged her in a hotel, then drugged her drink and proceeded to rid her of all her possession and eventually killed her. As the news affirmed, these were young men she met on Facebook whom she had hinted about her plan to run a clothing business and they had told her she could get good prices from them…as far as we know, that was what encouraged the relationship with these men who turned out to be murderers!

A sad end to a promising life! The virtual world is as real as we want it to be!

What can we learn from this sad incident? *RIP Cynthia*

    I was sent something like dat last 3months,but i was scared of plane crash and i pull out,am. D’ only daughter,so am always careful,our social network hav notin to blame foR,is just dat some of us making use of it are so desperate to to b rich from it,like dating a rich guy u dnt know just pictures. So dis is a warning.my mind didnt accep it i was strong enough cus d’ offers were so tempting.

    Something like dis has happened to me before. I met a guy on fb and I went to his place to see him. He was with his friends and I was d only lady. This thing that happened to cynthia can happen to anybody cos I was so lucky about that…..never trust anybody.

    but i really think that facebook or other social media friends you don’t know personally shouldn’t be believed or trusted if i may say… its just full of formality, since we all tell lies on this platforms… we all need to be careful…

    Trust no one. We in this part of the world have to be very careful since the Government cannot offer adequate protection for lives and monitoring for the social media, the best we can do is protect ourselves. Thank God the evil doers were aprehended.

    Its just unfortunate that she met the wrong ones with devilish minds tru the social means, its so sad she is late and may her soul rest in perfect peace..my advice is we should always let people close to us know about our whereabout no matter what, maybe if she had confided in one or two persons she would have been advised against going to those devils in human form.its just a pity.may her soul rest in peace and may God console her family

    The world is full of dangerous people and we meet dem everywhere and everytym but we do not no dat it is dem.this could hv happen 2 me becos I hv tried dis kind of tin once being d only daughter and d first child but God in his infinite mercy said no.I hv learnt not 2 trust no one and also 2 be very careful on hw I relate wit people both online and offline.esp.in abuja where am staying,where dis wicked souls kill girls anyhow and dump their bodies on the road.I just pray dat her soul will rest in peace and dat God should alwz fight and protects us all.amen

    We should be more careful abt ow we relate wit ppl frm d internet. Dis same tin could av happened 2 anyone. I almost witnessed same bt 4 d luck of d airforce officer friend I had in d airport @ lagos, I was able to avoid it. The guy claimed 2 be an agent recruiting models for adverts in lagos. I noticed dat these guys were fraudsters nd my friend adviced me 2 go back home. I quickly took a flight back 2 Portharcourt nd I thank God nothing happened to me.

    I feel so mch for her family, I also read d gist on net dat wen her body was found, some items dat were recovered from her were condoms and vibrators, even d killers claimd dat they did nt have sex wit her bt rather they used d vibrator on her. Now, my point is wat kind of cloth business wil she be doing wit a vibrator and condom? As a young girl wat kind of cloth business wil b transactg wit two full blooded men in a hotel room? I don’t expect this frm her bcos her father is rich, so wat cud she b lookg for? Its nt gud to speak evil of d dead, so all I wil say to her is RIP cynthia!

That she trusted the people of her tribe she met on facebook, is it a crime? Why are men this wicked to us women? What have we done wrong? Why is this world wicked!!!

    May her soul rest in peace! Saddly this atrocities are not limited to internet datings or relationships. Everyday I her about ppl killing their wives or girlfriends of many years ,so what do you make of that,just recently I read about a man who killed his wife and two children,last year a guy killed his banker wife,another killed his girlfriend at 1004 in lagos,yet another killed his fiancee for reasons best known to him. My question is what advice would you have given to these women,wr they desperate,wr they doing things with ppl they just met and didn’t know? Whatever we do is in the hands of God you can do so much to protect yourself and be careful but ultimately our very excistance,our going out and coming in,our minute by minute activities ,the success of it all lies in the hand s of the Almighty! So I say to us all the solution ,the only way out is pray ,pray without ceasing and if you don’t know how to have someone who will stand in gap for you in prayers. I pray but am not particularly good in it but I know importance of prayers so I have my mother praying for me 24/7 that way I know am coverd all the time!!

    Her parent Should log on to her Facebook account and check on her messages. They would be able to know who she actually chatted with. Read there conversations, get thé pictures of these boys and their personal info. That way they would be able to trail them. That’s if actually they used their original pictures on Facebook… Girls be careful of who you make friends with, who you chat with and who you give your personal info to. People out there are desperate. Both boys and girls. May god help us all and never to become a victim of such. Amen…

    we can’t be too careful with people, lesson learnt the hard way. people should make good sure they know someone well enough and pls tell your family or friends exactly where you are going to and people you are meeting so as to know your whereabout

    It is quite unfortunate that a well brought up and enterprising lady ended this way. While one can socialize on these networks, basic tenets of life should not be forgotten, especially from ladies point of view.
    Care must be taken in disclosing financial status and first meeting should be outside the territory of the guy that is inviting you, must be during the day and a friend of yours than could form an independent opinion even when you are carried away probably with the lies from the person inviting you.
    Avoid a lonely visit in an enclosure for a good while while you must appear moderately.

    Life is indeed filled with horrifying things, no wonder the bible says Becareful for nothing..This a life lesson we all have to emulate from,ideal moorons hovering over the net seeking for whom to devour or steal from, we all have one stories from d past to tell, oneway or the other we are victims of circumstances, i learnt alot every day of my life.This social meduim are all meant for fun,.love, sharing,giving,making new responsible friends,helping one another, even doing genuine online businesses, even marketing products.but what now? evil rakers have destroyed the joy of making new friends .i read all through about this innocent little girl whom was so naive,she trusted unknown because she wanted to take risk so as to breakthrough in life without her knowledge of their evil intentions…lord” how can we ever trust people again.i once added a guy on netlog network not knowing he was the dare devil.i was too smart for him and on a faster lane, i kept boombarding him with questions while chatting that even made him to confess,it was horro and dissapointment to me,for even having the mind to faking his identity..ladies, becareful,There are still good people out there.but becareful for nothing.Not all that glitters are gold.Steph thanx for sharing this.cheers”
