  • Flourish Like A Palm Tree

The palm tree is not affected by any season. Whether in raining or dry season. You are a spiritual palm tree, no matter the season, you will always stay fresh and green.

You will never suffer dryness and so shall it be by the grace of God, Amem.

    Happy Sunday!

  • I Say NO To Slavery And Human Trafficking

Over the past weeks, I’ve read with shock different reports of the rise in slavery and human trafficking, and how many West African migrants are being bought and sold openly in modern-day slave markets in Libya. The situation is devastating. The value of a human life is reduced to meager amounts of money. Too often they are broken, brutalized and have been abused, often sexually. Women, too, are reportedly being sold to homes where they were forced to be sex slaves.

Men and women toil for little or no pay, and are threatened and beaten if they try to escape. Women and girls are forced into prostitution. Human slavery tears at our social fabric, fuels violence and organized crime, and debases our common humanity.

The scale of trafficking is huge. People have a desire to improve their lives but sadly, things go wrong for a lot of them.

Today, I join my voice with thousands of people around the world to say NO to any form of SLAVERY. It’s time to look at the fundamental issues to address this. We cannot continue to let these people’s lives go to waste. Let’s use our platforms to continue to spread the word until something is done about it. We must not ignore these vulnerable ones. Their voices carry more weight than anyone else’s.

  • Leave No One Behind: End Violence Against Women & Girls

Campaigning for an end to Violence Against Women is something I’m very passionate about. Today, 25th November is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and is another opportunity for me to raise my voice against one of the most devastating human rights violations.

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today. It is the most extreme form of discrimination. According to the United Nations, 19 per cent of women between 15 and 49 years of age said they had experienced physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner in the 12 months prior to the survey (2005 – 2016). In the most extreme cases, such violence can lead to death. In 2012, almost half of all women who were victims of intentional homicide worldwide were killed by an intimate partner or family member, compared to 6 per cent of male victims.

Research also shows that achieving gender equality helps in preventing conflict, and high rates of violence against women correlates with outbreaks of conflict.

Through my award winning movie, DRY, and other platforms, I have spoken up against all forms of violence against women and girls and this is another day to remind ourselves of that. I hope we all continue to do our part to protect the women and girls around us. Violence is NEVER the answer.

  • TALK TO STEPH: Should I Get Married After Dating For Just Six Months

Cynthia sent this in, she needs your advice. Please drop it in the comment box:

    Hi Stephanie,

Please post this on your blog so your readers can give me advice on my situation.

I have been dating my boyfriend for about six months now. He is based in London but comes to Nigeria very often. He asked me to marry him. I have a good feeling about it and I want to say yes, but the problem is I feel like we don’t really know each other and that we need more time. He is abroad most of the time and has promised to take me there with him when we are about to start having children. He also assured me that he doesn’t have a wife or children in London.

I’m so confused. He wants us to get married this year but I don’t understand his rush. What do you advice? Should I go ahead and marry him?

  • Can You Solve This ‘Simple’ Math Puzzle?

At first glance, it seems easy. I calculated the answer within seconds and thought I was right.

    This is what I did:

    3 apples = 30, so 1 apple = 10.
    10 + 2 bananas = 18, so 2 bananas = 8 and 1 banana = 4
    4 – 1 coconut = 2, so 1 coconut = 2
    Therefore, 1 coconut + 1 apple + 1 banana = 2 + 10 + 4 = 16

But that was sooo wrong! Look closely at the image again:

Notice that the number of bananas and coconut halves are not the same in the last question as it is in others? I totally missed that at first!

Now that you’ve seen it, solve the puzzle and let me know what you get… 😊😊

  • Stephanie’s Poll: Should A Lady Ask A Man On A Date?

    Hi SL Fabz,

I’d like to read your honest opinion on this question.

If a lady really likes a guy and knows he is single, should she go ahead and ask him out on a date? Let’s also imagine that she knows he likes her but might be constrained by some factors unknown to her. Is it proper for a lady to make the first move? Do you think there will be positive or negative consequences if she does so?

Please share your thoughts in the comments section…

  • World Hello Day: How do you say ‘hello’ in your language?

November 21, 2017 is the 45th annual World Hello Day. Anyone can participate in World Hello Day simply by greeting ten people. This demonstrates the importance of personal communication for preserving peace.

World Hello Day was begun in response to the conflict between Egypt and Israel in the Fall of 1973. Since then, World Hello Day has been observed by people in 180 countries.

People around the world use the occasion of World Hello Day as an opportunity to express their concern for world peace. Beginning with a simple greeting on World Hello Day, their activities send a message to leaders, encouraging them to use communication rather than force to settle conflicts.

SL Fabz, I’d like us to key into this today and encourage the use of communication rather than force in our homes and immediate society. A lot can be prevented through this.

On a lighter note, I’d like to know where you all come from. So tell me, how do you say ‘hello’ in your language? Mine is Ndeewo.
