  • Talk To Steph: Should I Move In With My Boyfriend?

    Hello Stephanie,

I have been dating my boyfriend for six months. It has not been easy, we have had a lot of arguments and have broken up a few times. He thinks the solution to the problem we are having is if I move in with him so we can know how to live together. He says he needs to feel the presence of a woman in his house before he can propose or take me seriously.

My problem is: my father will kill me if I do that. I told my boyfriend this but he says that if I am serious about the relationship and want to get married, I have to focus on him and not on what anybody else says. I love my boyfriend and my greatest wish is to get married soon, but my family are against it and I know that if I continue to delay, I might lose my relationship. I am 25 and I don’t have that much time to be jumping in and out of love.

What should I do? Should I move in and later explain everything to my family?

    – Ijeoma

Hello, dearies! What do you advise Ijeoma to do?

  • Talk To Steph: If I have N5million in my account, how much should I spend on my wedding?

Hello Stephanie, my name is Clement. I want to get real advice from your fans; from those who understand hard work and the importance of saving.

I am a business man, still struggling to make good money and good profit in my business. I sell plastic chairs and plastic souvenirs for parties. The profit is not too much. But I believe in keeping the faith and growing the business.

Stephanie, I will not lie to you. My whole account is just N5million. My wedding is coming soon. My fiancée has been bragging about big wedding to her family and friends, and this people… instead of them to advice her to slow down, they are cheering her on.

The problem now: my fiancée is saying I should use N3million of my money for the wedding. I was hoping for just a court wedding and then later in life we can do all the noisemaking after my business is really big. But she doesn’t want to hear it.

She says if I love her, I will spend the money on a big wedding.

I don’t want an expensive wedding. I cannot spend N3m out of N5m saving for a wedding. I am looking for a court wedding and entertainment that will not be more than N500,000.

The wedding is holding in November.

    Please advice me.

*Hello all, please send your advice for Clement so he gets to weigh his options regarding what to spend properly. Thanks

  • Eucharia, take heart.

We pray for God to console Eucharia Anunobi at this time of hurt. She buried her son yesterday.

Dear Eucharia, may you find all the love and support you need at this time of loss. May you find the strength to carry on. And may God change your ashes to beauty.

    Amen.

    Please send your kind wishes.

  • Back to school tips: Getting Kids Ready

The holidays are almost over. Children will be heading back to school soon. Parents, are you ready?

It was a long holiday, so children would either be looking forward to a new academic year or in many cases, there’d wish the holidays to last forever. LOL!

Here are a few tricks to get them ready for a new school session:

Kids have been sleeping late all through the holidays, catching up with their favourite TV shows? Well, it’s time to reinstate bedtime hours in preparation for school resumption. The most appropriate time to have them in bed should be, at least, by 8.30pm. This prepares them in advance for the new term in school.

Have they been reading this holidays? No? Ok, it is time to get them to read before school starts. Get them a novel or a story book. Let them ease into the tradition of reading to sharpen their senses before school resumes.

Waking up early is the usual practice. Kids wake up, sometimes, as early as 5.30am to get ready for school. So it is time to return to that habit. That’s why they need to sleep early. Get the alarm clock working so they are never late.

Instruct them to clean up their wardrobe and rearrange their items in order of priority. When that is done, you’d be able to decide what necessary things to buy for the new term.

Give them that pep talk about going back to school. Prepare their minds on what to expect, how to behave, how to interact and how to handle situations. Teach them about kindness, strength of character, the ability to listen, how to approach matters etc. They survive on their own in school without your physical supervision, you need to furnish them with life tips regularly.

Here’s wishing all Nigerian children a great new academic year ahead.

  • 10 Inspiring Quotes on Beyonce’s Birthday

    Beyonce is 36 today!

She has touched many lives in different ways. That is the power of entertainment.

On this special occasion, let’s share 10 inspiring quotes from the incredibly successful artiste:

“When you love and accept yourself, when you know who really cares about you, and when you learn from your mistakes, then you stop caring about what people who don’t know you think.”

“We all have our imperfections. But I’m human, and you know, it’s important to concentrate on other qualities besides outer beauty.”

“For me, it’s about the way I carry myself and the way I treat other people. My relationship and how I feel about God and what He does for me, is something deeply personal. It’s where I came from, my family, I was brought up in a religious household and that’s very important to me.”

“I always try and go against the grain. As soon as I accomplish one thing, I just set a higher goal. That’s how I’ve gotten to where I am.”

“I use the negativity to fuel the transformation into a better me.”

“We all have our purpose, we all have our strengths.”

“I don’t like to gamble, but if there’s one thing I’m willing to bet on, it’s myself.”

“The reality is, sometimes you lose.”

“Power means happiness; power means hard work and sacrifice.”

“If everything was perfect, you would never learn and you would never grow.”

  • Word for the Day: God can turn things around

    Genesis 50:20

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

    #

It might seem like you are going through an unfortunate situation, but it just might end up a blessing in disguise. It may have been intended to hurt you, but God is more powerful than the makers of your pain and the pain itself. Things may happen to you that may be designed to shatter your world. But as long as you believe, your pain can become progress, and your misfortune can become your miracle.

Your job is to keep believing, with a clear conscience.

    Things will turn around.

    Happy Sunday!

  • Rest well, Obi Madubogwu

It was a sad day after hearing of the death of a colleague, Madubogwu.

He died battling acute diabetic foot ulcers.

There are no words to use to console family and friends of a lost one.

We hope his loved ones find peace in the love of God; and may he always be remembered for his contribution to a great industry.

    Rest well, Obi.

  • Sending Love and Light to all victims of flood

It is a serious and heartbreaking situation at Texas. The city is submerging! Hurricane Harvey has left in its wake destruction. Five people are dead, and almost all institutions are shut down – schools, airports etc.

We, in Nigeria, know what it is to suffer flood. We don’t have hurricanes, but our drainage aren’t handling issues as simple as rain. Weeks ago, we had pictures on social media of houses all across Lagos and flood taking over residents’ homes. It’s a sad situation.

In Houston, Texas, it’s a dire situation, and evacuation is possibly the next step.

There are many Nigerians living in Houston. To our brothers and sisters, and to the entire Texas, here’s some warmth and prayers coming from Nigeria.

We know our issues here in Nigeria are many, the little girl killed in Onitsha over last week is just heartrending. There’s so much pain in the world.

For everyone seeking succor, one way or another, may you find relief in the most painful part of your existence.

    Amen.
