  • Talk To Steph: I Love Him But He’s Married

Miss E needs your advice. Here’s her story:

I am 28yrs, I’ve been in a relationship for the past 5yrs. Then I was in school and I met this guy who promised me heaven and earth. He helped me with financial support. After 3yrs of our relationship, he then opened up that he had a wife and two kids. I thought nothing was wrong marrying a married man. I was pregnant last year, I was so happy but when I disclosed it to him, he was so afraid that he did everything to convince me to have an abortion. He told me that he has not gotten an apartment for me and I can’t live with his wife unless I want to be dead. I agreed and had the abortion. In the process I almost lost my life but thank God for His mercy. After sometime, he came and begged me with money that he loves me that he only wants us to plan things right.

What will I do? I really love this guy. It’s been over one year now and he hasn’t gotten any apartment yet. Many of my married friends mock me, telling me that I’m just wasting my time. Anytime I have the courage to tell him I am not interested again and we should go our separate ways, he sheds endless tears to prove his love and reminds me of all he has spent on me. I have people who àre asking my hand in marriage but I don’t love them and I don’t want to be an ungrateful person. I will be 28yrs by March. Please advice me, I don’t know what to do.

SL Fabz, I know its very easy to be judgmental in this situation but lets try not to be and give her the best advice we can.

*Remember, if you have a challenge in your relationship that you need advice for, please send an email to info@stephaniedaily.com with the subject ‘Talk To Steph’

  • What Does Friday Night Mean To You?

    “Thank God It’s Friday!”

I heard more than a few people say that today. Friday ushers in the weekend, a time of relaxation for many, especially those with the regular week day jobs.

Friday night is also a time where many people get to unwind at various relaxation spots around town. I was driving around a while ago and already most relaxation spots are starting to fill up – the restaurants, the cinemas, the bars, the clubs and many more hot spots around the city.

However, not everyone loves to hang out on a Friday night. For some, its a time to relax with family and gist about the events of the week. Many people also love to watch late night movies at home or go to Church for special programmes and vigils.

SL Fabz, I’d love to hear from you. Where do you belong? What do you love to do on Friday nights? What will you be doing tonight?

  • 5 Easy Ways To Reduce Your Sugar Intake

Although a little bit of sugar is OK for most people, eating too much sugar can undermine your health in a lot of ways. Sugar can add excess calories to your diet, crowd out more nutritious foods, and otherwise contribute to aging, weight gain, and disease.

Here are 5 tips I’m sure would help in reducing your overall sugar intake:

    Read Food Labels
You’ll quickly realize just how often sugar is added to foods when you look for it on ingredients lists. Even things that you don’t think are sweet, like tomato sauce, crackers, and salad dressings can be packed with sugar. Read the list of ingredients on the packaging before you make a decision on whether to eat/drink it or not.

    Choose Healthy Snacks
In between meals, you might have the need to chew on a snack. In such situations, opt for a healthy snack. Healthier snack options are those without added sugar such as fruit (fresh, dried, tinned or frozen), unsalted nuts, unsalted rice cakes, oatcakes or homemade plain popcorn

    Avoid Sweetened Drinks & Beverages
Nearly a quarter of our added sugar in our diets comes from sugary drinks such as fizzy drinks, sweetened juices, and squashes. A 500ml bottle of cola contains the equivalent of 17 cubes of sugar. Try sugar-free varieties or better yet, water, lower-fat milk, or soda water with a splash of fruit juice.

Trade sweetened foods for naturally sweet fruit
Replace foods laden with added sugar for fruit, which is naturally sweet and just as satisfying. Fruit – whether it’s fresh, baked, grilled, or pureed — makes a great replacement for sugar in lots of dishes, from cookies to coleslaw.

    Buy unsweetened food
Once you know where sugar hides, you can start making changes. One strategy: buy foods labeled “no added sugar” or “unsweetened.” You’ll find unsweetened versions of these common foods in most grocery stores. For instance, go for unsweetened milk instead of the regular one. Also, when buying canned fruit, they should be packed in
    juice—not syrup.

SL Fabz, do you have any more tips to add?

  • Groovy Friday: What Not To Wear To A Wedding

    Hi SL Fabz,

The weekend is almost here, and I’m sure we are getting ready to unwind and have fun.

Most of us would be attending wedding ceremonies this weekend, right? I think I hear ‘Yes’. So, let’s have a chat on outfits that shouldn’t be worn to weddings.

Fashion in its ever evolving nature has ruled out some of the things we took as norms with regards to wedding guest outfits. Previously, the rule was that only a bride should wear white on her wedding day, but that has changed. Now brides even dress their bridesmaids in white and sometimes ask their guests to dress in white too. (Remember Solange’s wedding). But I still know some people frown against this.

However colours aside, there are some outfits that are just not cool to be worn to weddings. I asked a few people and this is the list we came up with:

    Ladies:

    1.  A very short dress
    2. A very tight dress
    3. A very tight and short dress
    4. A super sparkly dress
    5. Anything too loud or garish
    6. A dress that exposes too much cleavage

    Men

    1. Jeans trousers
    2. Sagging trousers
    3. Shorts
    4. A hooded shirt
    5. A t-shirt
    6. A tuxedo (only meant for the groom)

The overall idea when picking an outfit for a wedding is that what you wear should not outshine the bride or groom because its their day not yours. Also, don’t dress too casual or look out of place.

Dearest fashionistas, I’d love to know what you think. What are the outfits you shouldn’t wear to a wedding? What is the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever seen anyone wear to a wedding?

And, if you were a bride, would you like anyone to wear a white dress to your wedding?

    Let’s discuss!

  • 5 Beauty Habits You Should Be Doing Every Night

Your skin can do serious work for you while you sleep-you just have to give it a little help along the way. Try one or all of these treatments to wake up looking refreshed and gorgeous.

    1. Remove all your makeup. Lipstick, mascara, powder…. everything. This ensures that your pores will be clean and your eyes free of leftover gunk.

    2. Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase. Their texture prevents wrinkles and fine lines because it causes less friction between your skin and the pillowcase.

    3. Once you remove your makeup, use a facial cleanser to remove any dead skin, dirt and sweat. Pick a facial cleanser that right for your skin type.

    4. Apply a good Moisturizer. It a myth that only people with dry skin need moisturizer. In fact, even people with oily skin can benefit from a regular moisturizer, though they may be able to skip a day without noticing too much change in the way their skin looks.

    5. Wear your hair up but not too tight. It’s a good idea to keep your hair out of your face while you’re sleeping to keep its natural oils from wreaking havoc on your complexion.

SL Fabz, what else do you ensure you do to your skin/face before going to bed every night?

  • How Can You Tell When A Woman Really Loves You?

I asked the ladies the reverse of this question last week and got some feedback from my male fans who also wanted to know how to identify a lady who really loved a man.

Apparently, its not only difficult for the ladies to tell when a man truly loves her, its also difficult for a man to identify a lady that truly loves him and is not playing with his heart.

Women are more emotional than men, and obviously find it easy to express love even more than the men. They say it with words, with their body language, with their laughter, with their tears and more. On the reverse, a woman can also easily deceive a man, making him believe she loves him when she doesn’t.

A woman who is truly in love with a man…

    1. Calls him or sends him messages often expressing her love for him
    2. Does interesting things to please him like cook his favorite meal
    3. _________________________

It’s time again to hear from you. Complete the list. Guys, how can you tell when a woman really loves you? Ladies, what do you do to show that you really love a man?

  • 4 Reasons Why You Should Dress For Yourself Instead Of Others

Many times, we worry about whether the way we dress is accepted by other people in the society and put this over our own desires. This happens mostly among us women. Sometimes, we want to dress in a particular way but don’t because we think people will mock us or the society won’t accept us.

It’s time for us to begin to live in our own skin and dress for ourselves. Here are 4 reasons why:

    1. You’ll be more comfortable
When you love what you’re wearing, you’ll be so much comfortable, even if what you love wearing is a great pair of heels. When you’re not worrying about what other people think or what they expect from you, you’ll feel more comfortable in your clothes and skin, which is always a positive!

    2. No one really cares
It’s very hard for us to see this, but its the truth. Don’t let the voice inside your head tell you that everyone’s judging you. Be yourself. I know this is even harder for me as a celeb because I am more in the public eye than most people. But truth is many just want to things to gossip, write or blog about. If I put their desires above mine, I’d be dressing for them not me and that’s really not cool.

    3. Don’t try to be someone else
It’s so hard living in someone else’s skin and if you try this, you’d realize that its totally worthless. Don’t dress because you want to please your friends, your colleagues, your admirers… One day you’d get tired of it and when you decide to dress for yourself, you’d be shocked to realize how it affects your relationships.

    4. You’ll feel more confident
Overall, when you dress for yourself, you’ll start to feel happier and more confident on both your inward and outward appearances. You won’t be worried about what other people think of you, and you’ll be proud to be dressing for yourself instead of others!

SL Fabz, do you dress for yourself instead of anyone else? Do you have other reasons to add to this list?

    Let’s share!

  • Rest In Peace, Muna Obiekwe

It’s taken a while for this to sink in, taken a while for me to get over the shock and accept that this is real.

Muna Obiekwe has passed on and the vacuum his death left is so huge. Reports have it that he passed away on Sunday due to kidney complications.

His death is really sad and shocking. I had the privilege of working with him a few times and he always exuded professionalism and dedication. His demise is unfortunate and untimely and he will be greatly missed.

I’m sending my love to his family and everyone who loved him. My heart is broken by this news.

    Rest In Peace… Muna.

  • What I Love To Do On Sundays

Sundays have a different vibe, a different feel, a different taste that makes it different from every other day.

I looove Sundays. Aside from the obvious fact that I get to spend more time in an awesome worship service, I get to do some things I don’t get to do during the week such as:

    1. Sleep – After a long busy week, Sunday is a time to relax, sleep and sleep some more. There’s nothing like a good Sunday afternoon nap.

    2. Cook – Because I have more time away from work, I love to cook those meals that take considerably more time than others. Like my favourite soups and salads.

    3. Clean Up – You know those boring and long tasks like cleaning out your closet or rearranging your home-office desk? Yes, Sundays are perfect for such chores.

    4. Call Friends & Loved Ones – Sometimes, the hustle and bustle of our everyday busy lives don’t give enough time for a simple chat or catching up with friends and loved ones. I love Sundays because I can have those lengthy chats and conversations with people that matter to me.

    5. Read – Sundays are just the perfect days to curl up in bed and read a good book.

    6. Eat Out – A special Sunday lunch or buffet with my hubby or close friends is always a great time to catch up, plan our week or just enjoy eachother’s company.

    7. ___________

I’d like to know yours. What are the best things you love to do on a Sunday that you don’t get to do other days of the week?

    xoxo
